aDIDAS King of the Road Race Results and Discussions

Hello folks! This post is not about the actual race results of the just concluded aDIDAS King of the Road Southeast Asia Championships. This post is more about letting everyone know that:

1. Race results will always be OFFICIALLY RELEASED by the Race Owners or Race Organizers first before any other entities. If somebody other than the two (race owner, race organizer) releases results way ahead of these two, more often than not, it is an empty post promising that race results will really be “available once it is released” OR there may be a link or downloadable results available but are unofficial. Isn’t it irritating to land on a page like this?

2. Blogging is not only about gathering hits. Blogging is a passion of sharing what you have experienced, your thoughts, your learnings and information you have fairly and justly gathered or provided to you by a reliable source. Once a blogger gets interested in gathering hits more than being able to be a positive influencer in the community, be wary because these kind will only use runners as proof of their so-called “reach” in order to make money out of blogging. There are other blogs though that really do earn but runners are enjoined to scrutinize those who are really credible running bloggers (they really are runners to begin with!) or those who pose as one (can’t even run a decent 3km).

3. Bloggers should be able to share credible information, promote goodwill, sportsmanship among runners and respect with one another. When one just let everyone act as if  they are free to turn the running community to be a marketplace then why is he/she blogging in the first place? Once a blog is opened to the public, it entails great responsibility. Therefore, blogs should be POSITIVE INFLUENCERS, one who promotes good values, help educate/re-educate its visitors/readers.

These are perfectionist statements as it may seem but if all of us just first begin to respect one another and avoid resorting to dirty tactics, the running community will be a better place to linger in and running as a sport will not be considered as the “new badminton”.

Thanks folks for your time and let us all look forward to better options soon! ;)

Of adobo, Halloween Night Run in Costume and FREE Race Kits!

The adobo Run After Dark race event brings much to look forward to. Whether runners are in need of a smaller night run crowd, or in search of a really fun run with that exciting post-race entertainment (read:concert), or would like to see how they can run after GMA’s Cinderella, or find out how the Playboy Playmates will complete a 3km run in their Playboy Bunny outfits, or maybe, seriously, run to make a difference as this event has as its beneficiary Illac Diaz’ Isang Litrong Liwanag advocacy. Any reason one may have, the adobo Run After Dark is definitely one race to look forward to. :)

A good number of my chums will be running the 5km race in costume. Me and hubby will too, but haven’t gotten to deciding which costume to don in! But nevertheless, with or without a costume, everyone is welcome to take part in this Halloween Night Run.

And because I want everyone to have a chance to experience this one of a kind race happening on the 29th of October at the Aseana Business Center, and  because I just remembered that this month is my blog’s anniversary, I will be giving-away THREE (3) ADOBO RUN AFTER DARK RACE KITS (race category of your choice!)!  So how do we go about it?

1. Post as a comment your answer to the question: “If you will be given a chance to run in the ADOBO RUN AFTER DARK  race, what do you think will a good costume be and why?”.
2. In the spirit of fairness, I will be accepting only ONE ENTRY PER PERSON.
3. There will be no wrong answers but the TOP THREE creative answers, which will be voted upon by THREE JUDGES (me, the adobo Run After Dark Race Director and another blogger) will each get to WIN  a FREE RACE KIT.
4. This contest will be open from today until midnight of Wednesday, October 26.
5. Winners will be announced on the night of October 27  to enable winners to claim their kits at ROX on October 28.

Good luck everyone and I look forward to seeing you at the race! :)

TIME is Running – AGAIN!

This race’s first edition in 2009 set the yard stick for succeeding RunRio races. As it comes back for a second outing, make this your first great race for 2012! :)

Who’s Running at the adobo Run After Dark 2011?

“Seemingly the stars will align on October 29 at the adobo Run After Dark  at Aseana City (near Mall of Asia). Big names from the entertainment industry, business sector, and the running scene are all taking part in the 2nd edition of the novel night run, which promises to have a lot of spectacles. Major corporations such as Meralco, McDonald’s, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Pocari Sweat, Manila Beer, Toby’s, Runnr, R.O.X., Video Sonic, Studio 58 Lab 10, Soleus, MyPhone, print media giants The Philippine Star, The Manila Bulletin, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Business Mirror, Business World, Inquirer.net, sports magazines thebullrunner, Multisport, Frontrunner, sports cable channel Balls TV, and top FM station Mellow 94.7 have banded together for this distinctive footrace event in support of its main beneficiary Isang Litrong Liwanag project headed by notable social entrepreneur Illac Diaz. Asia Brewery big boss Bong Tan himself has confirmed his participation in the race.

For the post-race activities, Ebe Dancel, noted former vocalist of Sugarfree, will be jamming with the race participants who are in for some wholesome rock party. Also provide rocking beats at the race are top band Stonefree and rising indie band Blue Boy Bites. Other standout bands from the music scene will sustain the live performances at the adobo Run.

On the serious side of running, top Filipina marathoners Mercedita Manipol and Joan Banayag are all set to claim the spotlight in the 5k and 15k categories, respectively. This will be the first time Manipol and Banayag will compete in a night run. Providing, however, top-class competition to our home-grown running heroines are the formidable slew of Kenyan runners.

Possibly going to elicit shrieks and provide celebrity appeal to the event are the sure participation of GMA Artist Center’s rising jewel Gwen Zamora. Gwen will don her erstwhile Cinderella costume of the telefantasya fame Grazilda as she joins the 3k category. Illac Diaz himself will be in a general’s costume as he runs with a whole platoon of real-life soldiers in the 5k category. Noted sports host and personality Rovilson Fernandez and ace comedian Bearwin Meily  would prefer to keep their costumes under wraps even as they set their sights in setting their respective personal bests in the virtually flat course of the 15k category. Several more celebrities are reportedly going to make surprise participation in their chosen race categories in the adobo Run, undoubtedly the biggest night race of the year.

And to further provide excitement to male participants, the Playboy Playmates will be donning their titilating bunny outfits as they strut it out throughout the 3k course.
