Adidas KOTR Goes International Via The AKOTR Southeast Asia Running Championship

Hey folks! Adidas Philippines, with the memories of the not-so good feedback and flak that the KOTR race last year still fresh from the runners’ minds , seems to be serious in making it up to the runners by bringing in some great surprises.

One – oh yes we all very well know now that Adidas finally got the picture and hired Runrio to handle this year’s KOTR event. With this development, all of us can surely expect that the KOTR will be a quality race – something that is common with races with the Runrio brand attached to it. ;)

Second – The race this year will be kinda different because, as Adidas just launched and announced today, the Philippine edition of the King of the Road will serve as the culmination of the four other Adidas King of the Road events in Southeast Asia. Great huh!

Dubbed as the Adidas King of the Road – Southeast Asia Running Championship and with the Philippines chosen to be the first ever host country, this event will be the ultimate championship race for the KOTR brand of races in Southeast Asia.

The KOTR races will held in the following Southeast Asian countries: Thailand (May 15), Singapore (August 28), Indonesia (September 25), Malaysia (October 2) and the Philippines (October 23).

Each KOTR event will have to categories: the CLOSED category, which will cater for local participants only and the OPEN category which is for international participants. Local winners from the KOTR events from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia will be given an all-expense paid trip to the Philippines and compete in the OPEN category of the race featuring the first ever 16.8km category.

Third – the KOTR races will now feature a different theme each year with this year’s theme titled “Colours” . This is represented through the variety of different coloured Adidas singlets participants will don. The multi-colour showcase “is meant to demonstrate the vibrancy of the sports scene across Southeast Asia”. Imagine a sea of colours trying to conquer the Kalayann flyover – I am guessing this will be amazing!

Without much further ado, here is a summary of the initial race details:
