And the CIHM2 Race Kit Winners Are…

…here in this post! But before I finally reveal their names and their winning tagline, I want to thank everyone here who gave this contest a shot. I admit it is not so easy to think of a tagline but I never realized it will be more difficult to choose among all the entries! But then again, two people has to win it.

So, from all the entries, I chose one which made me LAUGH – as in until now! – and one which struck me as simple yet aligned with the image I posted. :) To convince myself if they are really my final choice, I tried creating a poster out of the image with the tagline entries of my choice. And yes, they really are. So here, let me show you folks, my top choices…

entry by: Joseph Sibal

Congratulations Joseph Sibal and THANK YOU! You gave me an idea what to give Race Director EDWARD KHO for Christmas! Now, to decide which brand of lotion to buy is my next problem… hahaha! (peace Edward! ;) )

entry by Aileen Manat

Congratulations Aileen! Yes, the photo was set by the Corregidor ruins and umm, yes I agree too, Edward is kinda BOLD here in this shot! Mwaah, peace again Edward! :P

Joseph and Aileen, please do expect an email from me which will contain information on how you can claim your prize.

Meanwhile, to the rest of you who took the challenge but were not as lucky as these two were, I give you my BIG THANKS! Check back for my next blog contest which will be posted soon!

Finally, do not forget that the Corregidor International Half-Marathon 2011′s in-store registration is still on-going with its registration fee maintained at the regular PHP2,500 price. For more details, do check out my blog about this event HERE. The CIHM 2011 is set to be held on Saturday, December 10 at the Corregidor Islands!

Cheers!

WIN 1 of 2 Corregidor Intl Half-Marathon 2011 Race Kits!

The Corregidor International Half-Marathon is one of the most-anticipated year-ender race in the Philippine Running Community. For the participating runner, this can serve as the “final test” to assess his/her year-long performance and running improvement. This year,  the event will be held on Saturday, December 10.  Late registration is currently on-going via in-store registration and since Christmas is already in the air, the organizers decided to forego the registration fee increase of PHP500 for late registrants. Registration fee will still be  at the rate of PHP2,500 until registration ends on December 4.

Meanwhile, I would like to continue with the CIHM 2011 Christmas treat by having this mini contest!  Read on for the contest details.

See the race poster above? That poster came from this raw photo:

what will be your tagline for this photo?

If we will turn back time and you will be asked to create an appropriate tagline for this picture to be CIHM’s publicity poster, what will your tag line be? First thing that came to mind when I thought about a tagline was this: “McArthur’s Blast from the Past Runs Fast at CIHM“. Hehe… I know! Corny eh? You surely can do better than that!

The TWO who will most impress me with their funny and/or witty tag line (funny but still decent folks!) will each win ONE (1) CORREGIDOR INTERNATIONAL HALF-MARATHON race kit. Below are the complete contest guidelines:

1. Create a funny and/or witty tagline for the above CIHM publicity photo. (A TAGLINE folks is a phrase or a one-liner statement  or a catch phrase or word that is used to “dramatize” a photo or product. it is also use to identify it. The ORIGINAL TAGLINE for this photo when it was turned into a poster is actually “GRIT IS CONFIDENT.”)
2. Post your entry as a comment to this blog post (please do not forget to supply your email address).
3. Entry must be one sentence or phrase only. Entries longer than one sentence will be disqualified.
4. Entry may be in English, Tagalog, or Taglish.
5. Everyone is qualified to post one entry only. Those who will post two or more entries will be disqualified.
6. Those who will join will have to assure Kulitrunner and Phenomenon that in case he/she wins, he/she will put the prize to good use by either: (a) using it by participating in the race on Dec. 10 OR (b) give it to somebody else in case he/she cannot make it on race day. It will be unfair if the prize will just be wasted, right?
7. Contest will be until 11:59 pm of November 27, 2011 only. Comments posted after this time will be disqualified as well.
8. Two (2) winners will be chosen by me (Kulitrunner) will be announced on November 28, 2011 through this blog. Winners will also be notified via email for details on how they can claim their prize.
9. REMEMBER: Your entry must be a TAGLINE. Not just a funny or witty phrase. :)

CORREGIDOR INTERNATIONAL HALF-MARATHON: The Race of Rock-stars

What do the Afroman, Cinderella, and the country’s top social entrepreneur have in common? December 19 holds the answer. On that date, the three notable personalities from equally exciting yet distinct fields will head to one destination: Corregidor. And they will not just do a tour of the island, but will do more than that. They, together with close to 400 gritty and elite running aficionados, will rock the island and run in the inaugural Corregidor International Half-Marathon (CIHM).

Top race organizer and running coach par-excellance Rio dela Cruz, also known as the Afroman of the Philippine running community, has confirmed his participation in the CIHM, billed the last major race of the year. Rio, fresh from his blistering finish at the New York Marathon, is eyeing the top spot in the CIHM to become its first ever champion.

Gwen Zamorra, GMA Talent Center’s newest and fast-rising sweetheart, who’s endearing a throng of fans with her role as Cinderella in the top-rating telefantasia Grazilda, will see action in CIHM. Unknown to many, Gwen has been into running for almost two years to date, with a 15k and a half-marathon under her belt already. But in CIHM, she is out to prove that she is not a frail damsel in distress. On the contrary, she may just unwittingly cause distress to male participants whom she might outrun in the race.

Then, there’s the country’s prime social entrepreneur Illac Diaz who is deadset to bring one of his advocacies to the running community and at the same time prove that his mountaineering stamina is no fluke. Illac is excited to be part of CIHM as he sees the race’s design akin to his ecological advocacy and a perfect venue to measure his remarkable fitness level.

With the participation of these three interesting personalities, the anticipation for the first Corregidor International Half-Marathon is fast approaching its fever-pitch climax. Close to 400 runners, and still counting, are rushing to register for this historic footrace on the hallowed grounds of Corregidor, known as The Rock. The composition of participants is nothing but out of the ordinary. From age to professional background the race looks remarkable. The youngest participant is 18 while the oldest, so far, is 67 years old. The professions of registered participants paint an interesting picture. Participants vary from lawyers, physicians, dentists, IT specialists, human resource practitioners, engineers, and even band artists. Likewise, a huge number of runner bloggers will see action in the race, with no less than Jinoe Gavan, the top honcho and moderator of the country’s biggest running forum and blogsite Takbo.ph will make his mark on the race course of CIHM. Surprisingly, the number of female contenders almost approximates the number of their male counterparts. Definitely, it will be interesting to find out how the gender war will be played out in the race.

And to further escalate the excitement of CIHM, Session Road, one of the country’s sought after bands, will rock it out for the Victory Party of CIHM, in the evening of December 19 at the island. During the party itself, exciting prizes will be raffled off for participants. Lucky participants stand the chance to run away with a gift certificate for a 2-night & 3-day stay at Two Seasons Hotel Boracay, Holster Jelly Sandals, trendy running shoes, Sun Cruises gift certificates, and cool items from Coleman.

Registration has been extended to December 4 and will run daily from 4pm to 8pm (beginning Monday, November 29) at ROX in Bonifacio High Street. For more race details, visit www.corregidor2010.runningmate.ph.
