Running to Hot Rocks

Pairs of tired legs, a cracked signed plate, a bunch of full stomach and a slew of runners/tigbakers. These folks hit the Hot Rocks branch in Auto Camp. We don’t just run, we also tigbak!

*photos grabbed from classmate carmen’s multiply site. thanks a bunch carmen! :)

ULTRA Training and more

Since signing-up for running training, Art and I have changed the way we spend our Friday nights. We now always look forward to meeting at the ULTRA for our usual training session with the team.

Last night was not an exception. Everybody started arriving at the strike of 6:00 p.m. wherein chikahan and chorvahan preceded the now usual warm-up run. Marga is back so the coaches expected me to be in “day-off”, hibernate mode and let Marga do the talking which she gamely did with the speed of 51 words per 30 seconds as timed by Coach Jo-Ar. hahaha!

Aljo and I, having shins that hurt, did only 2 laps of walking as warm-up, 1 set of stretching and 2 sets of various drills meant to strengthen our legs especially our calf and shin muscles. The drills were a heaven-sent to my aching shins that after these sets, i noticed the pain slowly subsiding. After the core workout, the pain is gone, nada but we are still expected to perform “RICE” to it religiously.

What’s good about every night’s training session is that after the hardwork, we get to bond during dinner together – the students and the coaches. Last night, we were at the Hot Rocks branch in Autocamp, Ortigas Avenue. Being frequent visitors, we were given the Hot Rocks-trademark plate for us to sign on. Marga, having broken the original plate that we first had, made-up to it by making a Rio caricature. It was nice. What followed were the usual marathon chikahan wherein Marga and I were the usual champions.

We ended the night at around 11 p.m., it sure is late already but it seems bitin pa rin. The night was one that you would not want to miss.
