Second Wind Store No. 2 NOW OPEN

Second Wind, that dream running store for runners by runners, have already gone a long way. You see, from that first cozy little store along Maginhawa St. at Teacher’s Village in Q.C., a bigger and improved second store is now open to serve runners – wannabes, newbies and elites alike.

Store No. 2 had its grand opening yesterday which was started with a “ceremonial run” from the first store up to the new one and was participated in by Second Wind owners and Pinoy Ultra Runners and Triathletes and their runner friends. The “grand unveiling” was capped by a delicious breakfast shared with everyone present and oh, there was even a special pick-a-prize (which I unfortunately lost, bummer! lol!) wherein lucky runners got the chance to score nice tokens/prizes.

and in we go

We were lucky to have been invited to attend the opening and based on my observation, the following are some of the reasons why this is a store that is worth the visit:

1. It is bigger and better. From the first store which can’t fit ten people at a time, this second store can and mind you, not just ten, huh!
2. It has more stocks, meaning more shopping options!
3. It is very near the ULTRA, so for those of you who like me usually run/train at the ULTRA, going to the store can even be your warm-down run or walk.
4. It’s conveniently located along the Ortigas Center area, particularly at the Ortigas Home Depot, making it easier to find and travel to.
5. Parking is not a problem since the Ortigas Home Depot Area provides ample space for parking best of all, it’s FREE.
6. It is directly infront of the “Seafood Paluto” restaurants of the Ortigas Home Depot and a whole lot of other dining options. Hmm, I have to mentally take note of the Bread Bag store which sells pugon baked bread (Hector says its sarap! takaw ko ‘no?)
7. A number of good running routes can be found along the area and in fact the store has available map of these routes for everyone to check out and try.
8. As in the first store, runners are welcome to stay and hang out. One can choose to hang out inside and even outside, take your pick. Space here is not a problem.
9. All Terra, the bike shop will be opening beside the store in a few weeks, making it a one-stop area for runners who are also into biking.
10. Don’t you just love going to running stores for no special reason?

Second Wind To Open Second Outlet

Here’s the good news as relayed to us by Jeremy Go of Second Wind Running store:

surprise branch copy

On March 28, 2009, Secondwind opened its doors in Teachers Village to serve the running community.  The Philippines’ first running specialty store for runners, by runners.  Our vision, to provide authentic service to runners, by fellow runners; to provide a venue where runners, can meet up and be with other fellow runners.  We were overwhelmed with the support of the running community – never did we expect this.  Never did we expect also that our small little project would eventually be a first.

Now we’re blessed with another opportunity to serve the running community once again.  On November 14, 2009, we’re opening another Secondwind shop soon which is south bound from where we first opened or positioned in a more central location in the metro.

RUNNING SOON: 11.14.09 twelve noon, mark the date.

Incidentally, there is a contest going on at the site of The Bull Runner in relation to guessing where the new Second Wind Store will be located. Click here if you want to take a shot. Winners by the way get to receive a free Second Wind singlet.

Good Luck and Best wishes Second Wind!

Second Wind Running Store’s Public Service Act

Many of us have been affected by the disaster that typhoon Ondoy has brought upon us. Our family have been one of those whose home have been under almost knee-deep flood. But we are still so lucky compared to those who suffered worst. I have been practically out of touch from the outside until last night that when I checked my email today, I was glad to receive one from Hector Yuzon, main man of Second Wind Running Store encouraging us to extend help in our own way to those who may need it. Here is the full context of Hec’s email :

And Then There Were Two!

Running is the new badminton! I always hear these phrase being uttered nowadays which is meant to point out how running as a sport has evolved in the country. One proof to the running  boom is the recent opening of two running specialty stores - RUNNR and Second Wind.

I was able to visit both stores and try out the services they offer. I have tried having my foot and gait analyzed and both stores gave the same findings (i have neutral/normal pronation, yehey!). What’s best, both stores has staff who knows about running and are actually runners themselves. Boy, both even have ultramarathoners in their midst . Bottomline, wherever runners choose to go to buy running stuff or avail of running-related services, both store will give value for money. They have good products and friendly and knowledgeable staff. It will really all boil down to a runner’s preference.
