ATTN ALL LADIES: Women’s Health ARE YOU GAME? Is On June 1, 2013

First it was an all-women’s training camp from Nike, now here is another event especially made for women! I am beginning to feel super-duper special. Isn’t it fun being a girl??? Yes it is!

Every year, Women’s Health Magazine from other countries celebrate via a women’s festival or event entitled “Are You Game?”. This fun annual gathering of women is recognized to be Women’s Health flagship event and last year, the Philippine edition had its exhausting but fun, fun, fun debut! I and a number of other female bloggers were there to experience it  and we really had an awesome time!

Women’s Health brings back Are You Game? in the Philippines

Shape up your best body this year as Women’s Health Philippines brings back its flagship event – “Are You Game?”, an all-day, feel-good festival that features the latest in fitness, nutrition, wellness, beauty and more! Happening on June 1, Saturday (10:00 AM) at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia, Are You Game? is sure to encourage today’s active women to take control of their physical and mental being.

Following the success of the first Are You Game? last year, Women’s Health makes it possible for Filipino women to experience more this June through new workouts like SMRT-Core Circuit, a 30-minute class which is designed to lengthen the muscles, strengthen the myofascial lines and slings, and integrate the body for a complete body workout. Les Mills Body Jam™, a signature workout of 360 Fitness Club which is a cardio workout that fuses the latest dance styles and hottest new sounds to put emphasis on having fun while exercising.  Beyond Sculpt, a brand new fitness-based approach to yoga that is targeted to strengthen the body using weights. Zumba Toning, a combination of targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-burning, strength-training dance fitness-party. Fit Into Your Jeans Workout, a total-body workout that sculpts sexy thighs, legs and butt while working on the upper body and core, and FNR (flexibility Not Required), which is a simple, worry-free introduction to yoga.

Besides trying out the latest in fitness, Are You Game? also provides the best in skin care and wellness through various booth activities like one-on-one skin, nutrition and slimming consultations, massages, nail treatments, and dehydration booths. Plus, participants can try out other fun sports like archery, wall climbing, and dance consoles!

So what are you waiting for? Be healthy, be fun, be game! Don’t forget to bring the May or June issue of Women’s Health to enter. To know how to pre-register, visit www.femalenetwork.com/WHAreYouGame/.

Banana Running’s BARDS and the Women’s Health Magazine Sept. Issue

The September issue of the Philippine edition of the Women’s Health Magazine is now out! This issue contains a wealth of useful information regarding weight loss. But the thing that made this particular issue is that our good friend, runner and blogger behind the Bananarunning Blog, Bards Bathan is included in the Weight Loss Challenge as she was one of the chosen participants.

Check Bard’s account on how she landed at the pages of the magazine’s September issue in her blog post HERE.

Meanwhile, read the below press release to see why WH is a must-read magazine for us Filipina women. Cheers!

PRESS RELEASE:

Your Ideal Weight: Get there and stay there with Women’s Health Ultimate Weight-Loss issue

For the ultimate weight loss issue, Women’s Health makes sure that every woman finds a bigger reason why they should lose the extra pounds. This September, Editor-in-Chief   Lara Parpan asks, “Just how much do you love yourself?” as she devotes the issue on weight loss and how to keep a healthier lifestyle.

Be inspired by five real women who triumphed over their low-esteem and unhealthy habits. Learn about what made them embrace their now active lifestyle and what pushes them to stick to it. Women’s Health also introduces three women who took on the The Women’s Health Weight-Loss Challenge. Find out what programs did they follow for four weeks, the diet they went through, the insights they gained after, and if the challenge can work for you, too.

Your start to your own weight-loss journey also begins by knowing what to eat and what not to. In the issue, Women’s Health gives you the other (and unpopular) side of fat. According to Bonnie Taub-Dix the author of Read It Before You Eat It, “Fat in food is equated to fat on hips – but it’s not the same. Dietary fat is one nutrient that can help you lose stubborn pounds.” Read through fat’s larger purpose and integral role in balancing your nutritional needs and learn what kind of fat should remain as an enemy to your eyes and body.

Cover girl, Angelica Panganiban also shares her own weight-loss story. The self-confessed badminton lover told Women’s Health that she doesn’t really like going to the gym. She says, that when you find the right sport or exercise, you won’t even think of it as “working out.” “Mas gusto ko yung badminton, volleyball or table tennis.” The actress even shares that since she started playing badminton this January, her endurance and stamina has upped and all because she plays with her male friends. In losing weight, she adds “Do something you love and get people you love even more to do it with you.”

Learn more about how you can jumpstart to a healthier lifestyle with this month’s weight loss issue and find out more about how Angelica Panganiban continues to love her active lifestyle without any worries of restricting herself too much. The September issue of Women’s Health is available in newsstands and bookstores nationwide.
