A Message to Marathon Philippines

Hello Marathon.ph owner/administrator,

I do not personally know you and was really surprised to see my blog posts (and of my blogger-friends’ posts) republished in your site.

Do know that although you indicate our blogs as sources, republishing the blog posts without due authorization from the writer/owner still is plagiarism, if not utmost disrespect to the owner. Worst of all, you are earning from these reposts!!!

Please do take out all of my posts that you have republished in this site because I DO NOT AGREE and I DO NOT WANT you doing that.

I hope this proper request be heeded otherwise, I will have to find other means for my request to become an order.

Running and the Women’s Sports Bra

For me, the most important gear a woman like me should have ready for running/mtbiking is none other than a SPORTS BRA.

I have seen some female runners who wear their ordinary everyday bra while running and it should not be the case. If we are very conscious enough to choose the right running shoe model for our feet, I do not see any reason why women will not invest more on the proper sports bra good for running.

Wearing a well-fitting sports bra with enough or more support will definitely contribute in our enjoying running (or mtbiking!) more and admit it, we look better in it while running (yes, even if it is just underneath our top!).

And that is what I think I would need to get. You see, the ones I currently have does not perfectly fit me anymore and thus it is time to search again for a new one.

Finding the perfect sports bra is not much of a challenge nowadays as there are a lot of brands that offer a variety of models. Unfortunately, the challenge is on how to find the perfect model and fit for well-endowed women.

But, fret not! I have found one which seems to pass my sports bra standards! Presenting, Moving Comfort’s FIONA Sports Bra:

Running and mtbiking are both high-impact sports and as such, women, especially the well-endowed ones will need not just compression but also encapsulation to ensure that support to the breasts are provided aside from just compression. This is my foremost requirement in finding the most suitable sports bra for me.

Moving Comfort, a brand which is currently also locally available, carries a model that will seem to perfectly fit my requirement. Let me share with you the features this product as I have found from the website http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com:

  • Seam-free interior molded cups for support and shape
  • Interior front yoke limits vertical breast movement
  • Front adjustable straps with concealed hook-and-loop closure for easy, custom-fit adjustability
  • Flattering exterior design lines add support and shape
  • Adjustable back closure for easy on/off and custom-fit adjustability
  • Full-medium cup size
  • Encapsulation/compression style
  • Moderate contour for slightly more shape and modesty
  • High impact, ideal for running, walking, climbing, cycling.
  • Fabric: Body-DriLayer® X-Support 88% polyester / 12% Lycra®

From all these features, here are the things that I liked:

  • Encapsulation/compression style- as I have earlier said, well-endowed women will need encapsulation more than compression. Encapsulation means that the bra will have individual cups that will surround and support each breast separately providing more support and comfort.

  • Adjustability – I like the fact that the bra can be adjusted on the straps or at the back closure because it will let create a more custom fit for me
  • Fabric – has the technology that wicks moisture, perfect for “sweating-it-out” activities
  • Perfect for use in high impact sports which includes my favorite running and mtbiking!

  • Color – available in a variety of attractive colors! 😉

As for me, I am pretty much sold to purchasing this product and I am happy that there is a chance that this exact model is locally available. But if not, I am just as happy that I can easily purchase it online.

Oh and not to forget, this product is also available in smaller cup sizes. So whether you are a cup B or some other bigger cup size, this one will still be good for you.

Unboxing the Saucony Progrid KINVARA 3

I received, as a Christmas gift, another reason to make me take my getting back to training, running and mtbiking a serious goal – a pair of Saucony’s Progrid Kinvara 3.

The Christmas Season is finally so over and for most runners, sports enthusiasts I know, this means that it is time to finally open the new  year for training and getting back to our favorite sports activities.

For me, this time also signals the unboxing of my pretty pair of minimalist neutral shoe!

I never had a pair of the first two Kinvara models (Kinvara and Kinvara 2). On the other hand, hubby has nothing but praises for the Kinvara 2 pair that he’s been using – reason why he thought of giving me the Kinvara 3 as a Christmas present. And was I thrilled!

According to http://www.northernrunner.com, the Saucony Progrid Kinvara – “is the industry’s leading minimalist shoe, and the updated Kinvara 3 features new upper technology ensuring a better fit and ride than ever before. On the upper of the shoe, both the thickness and weight have been reduced, with the shoe weighing in at only 7.7oz (basis: Men’s pair, size 9).”

Here are Kinvara 3’s technical features:

  • Heel ProGrid is a grid-like foam piece that sits under the heel for shock absorption.

  • EVA+ is a full length composite foam designed for lightweight, durable cushioning.
  • Decoupled Heel flexes throughout the gait cycle to create better traction.
  • Heel ProGrid is a grid-like foam piece that sits under the heel for shock absorption.

  • Open Mesh covers the entire upper and is a breathable lightweight fabric.
  • Flex Film Overlays are made of a thin film that is welded to the upper for a snug, secure fit.
  • HydraMAX Collar Lining cups the heel and provides next-to-skin comfort while wicking unwanted moisture
  • Memory Foam Heel Pods provide a comfortable and secure fit.

  • XT-900 throughout the outsole is a carbon rubber material that offers durable traction.
  • Triangular Lug Design provides traction and additional underfoot cushion.

Being a non-technical person, the following are my personal opinion about the shoe which most common sports enthusiasts may be able to probably relate to:

  • Color combination – the Saucony Kinvara 3 comes in attractive color sets for both the Men’s and Women’s model. Gone are the days were running shoes comes in safe and need I say, kinda “boring” colors. Saucony definitely took note of that fact and provided a lot of good-looking color combinations!
  • Weight – the pair is lightweight, need I say more? 😉
  • Less seams – because of the Flex Film technology that was used on the upper of the shoe, it had fewer seams. This means that the shoe can be comfortably worn even if sockless
  • Cost effective – the Saucony brand is one of the leading running shoe brand and what’s best, it doesn’t cost much to be able to own one.

For those who are looking to buy a new pair of running shoes, the Saucony ProGrid Kinvara 3 might be best for you. After all, this shoe model from Saucony is a shoe great for speedwork, racing and daily training.

NOTE: The Saucony ProGrid Kinvara 3 is locally available in various running and sports shops in the country and via online through Northern Runner. You may also visit Saucony direct at http://www.saucony.com.

Nike Air Max 2013
The Nike Air Max+ 2013 takes its place as the latest incarnation of the Air Max franchise. As both a timeless statement of innovation and a perennial sports classic, visible air has set Nike apart for almost a quarter of a century.
This spring, the franchise that started a revolution releases its most advanced heel-to-toe Nike Max Air unit ever to provide lightweight, soft cushioning and more flexibility than any previous version. Nike makes an icon more flexible than ever with Air Max+ 2013
A reengineered Nike Max Air unit makes a classic running shoe lighter, more cushioned and an even better fit.

PHILIPPINES – JANUARY 2013: The franchise that started a revolution releases its 2013 edition totally designed for runners’ needs. The Nike Air Max+ 2013 features the most advanced heel-to-toe Nike Max Air unit ever to provide lightweight, soft cushioning and more flexibility than any previous version.

The Nike Air Max team emphasized natural motion in their design. They started by reconstructing the Nike Max Air unit to ensure the softest, most comfortable ride possible. The unit’s internal walls are minimized to encourage airflow, and internal tubes move with the foot to provide more flexibility than in previous Nike Air units.

Nike Hyperfuse construction is used throughout the shoe to create a lighter, more breathable upper and a reduced overall weight, without sacrificing on comfort. Open hole mesh on the upper serves the dual purpose of generating allowing increased ventilation for comfort on the run and a sleek appearance.

A notched inner sleeve wraps around the foot, while a molded collar supports the ankle to create an improved fit that feels virtually seamless. Whether on the street or the treadmill, dynamic Nike Flywire technology ensures that the midfoot stays secure and supported at all times.

The Nike Air Max+ 2013 takes its place as the latest incarnation of the Air Max franchise. As both a timeless statement of innovation and a perennial sports classic, visible air has set Nike apart for almost a quarter of a century.

As the first shoe to feature visible air, the original Air Max 1, designed by Tinker Hatfield, revolutionized an industry and reshaped the design landscape for running footwear. In the late 80’s, the idea of running on air was an innovation that not only had never been seen before but also delivered a fit and level of comfort that changed the game. In the years following, Air Max shoes have become the epitome of running performance and style.

Visible air continues to be one of the most relevant and revolutionary innovations Nike has ever created. The reinvented Nike Air Max+ 2013 represents the evolution of Nike Running.
