On October 1, NIKE will launch what is to be the largest social running meet in the country! The NIKE RUNNING CLUB is a weekly social meet of various runners/running groups of all levels for a session of running, training, fun and socializing.

From what I understood when I was given a brief , the Nike Run Club is applicable to both beginner runners or even those who have been running already – regardless if they are an existing member of a running team or not. Running teams usually meet at least once a week for regular training/member sessions and it is ok as Nike will not ask that this be discontinued. In fact the club will support this and together with it, a collective gathering of all these groups for a specific day of the week will be held for running-inspired surprise events.

Is the Nike Run Club a one-time activity? Nope, I was told that this is more of a long-term thing. One which aims to create a new, improved culture in running!

What is in it for runners? I’d say a lot! From running services Nike+ Training club sessions, amazing experiences, stacks of motivation, support and guidance plus plenty of fun along the way! All of these for FREE!

If you or your running team is interested, I suggest that you head on over at the BGC Ampitheater on Wednesday, October 1 at 6:30PM, wearing your running attire. Encourage your teammates to attend with you and participate in the team challenge. Since it is the launch, I have heard that Nike have prepared a very special prize package for the winning team.

Whatever your running ability is, you are invited to run your first, funnest, fastest, fittest run at the NIKE Run Club.

TITAN GAMES – November 9

Titan_DBs 18x24 (resized)

The Titan Games is the Philippine’s First National Strongman Competition, a multifaceted fitness event that combines physical challenges with a time element. This event is made for every FILIPINO who want to change their lives for the better, through fitness and health. The Titan Games seek to build TITANS – iron-willed individuals with a strong in mind and body.

This year, Titans will clash in the concrete jungle. Witness steel, wood, and rubber crash against each other as 6 winning individuals take all in this 2 division challenge. On November 09 2014 at The Camp, Taguig, this whole-day event will feature challenges, mini-challenges, and a spectator-friendly event every person can enjoy.

The Titan Games wants every Filipino. We want a Fitter Philippines. But we also want our participants and spectators to have an awesome experience. So we’ve made 2 divisions that are as far apart in difficulty as you can imagine – a beginner’s level, Novice division for the everyday person, and a difficult Advanced division for the serious athlete.

This is for the EVERY man and the EVERY woman. This is for those who occasionally exercise, the sports enthusiast, the casual (insert sport here). Whether you play hoops with your friends on the weekend, stretch out and find your center every morning, love bicep curls and dancing, or a walk-a-thon junkie posing as a hardcore commuter, this is YOUR event.

An immovable object. An unstoppable force. Many are strong but only a few can be called TITANS. This division will reveal who are worthy of that title. If you’re part of your country’s elite fighting force, an athlete that has been training since Day 001 on Earth, a gym junkie who does not exercise but trains, or want to challenge your human limitations, then we invite you to clash against other TITANS.

CHALLENGES will be FOR TIME, to finish the required movements while following the scoring standards in the shortest time possible. There will be 4 main challenges with 5 minute time caps, where all participants can compete. Each challenge has a unique name connoting to the tasks to be accomplished. Only the Top 5 strongest Males and Females in each division will make it to the 5th Challenge, the Clash of the Titans! Winner will be the one with the shortest total time of all 5 challenges!

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded to each top male and female competitor in each division. Prizes from GNC, BeyondRaw, Fit Miss, Ensayo Gym Equipment, Gatorade, Quest Bar, Fitaid, Battle Brew, Progenex, Goat Tape, Brofit and WOD Nation are up for grabs! The advanced division male and female champions will be awarded the 2014 Titan Games – Titan, and they will become GNC’s BeyondRaw and Fit Miss next brand ambassadors!

Life, if you allow it to be, can be just one big routine. Going through the motions can be easy because of the comfort that goes with familiarity. However, life wasn’t meant to be lived inside your comfort zone; life is meant to be explored, and most importantly, lived with 100% passion. If you find yourself stuck in a routine, here are a few things to do to break out of the rut and get more out of your life.

Dream big. Renew your love for life by dreaming big. Research, read up, and explore the many possibilities that your potential can achieve. Dreaming big is the first step in getting more out of life, from a simple change in your daily routine to a drastic shift in your career.

Evaluate your passion. Are you simply going through the motions because you no longer have the passion for what you do? If you find yourself in this rut, evaluate why you’re feeling so. Is it because it’s no longer challenging? If so, find ways to reignite your passion. This can be as simple as doing things differently, or taking a step back from your work. Then you will be able to not just work to live, but love and succeed in your work.

Go on an adventure. Don’t let work get in the way of things you truly enjoy. Life is meant to have a healthy balance between the routine and the exciting. It is what we do away from work and school that we find that zest for life. Go on trips and adventures you’ve always wanted to go on, get rid of your excuses, and live the life you’ve always dreamed of.

Try a new sport. Even rigorous fitness buffs need a break from their routines. Life becomes more thrilling when you overcome new obstacles, challenges, or even fitness goals. Change it up by trying a new sport, the most adventurous one you can think of and see your life change for the better in an instant.

Summit Natural Drinking Water has long been a partner of the country’s best athletes in pushing limits and go beyond the ordinary. Today, you can thirst for more with Summit and live a life you never thought you’d live. With Summit Natural Drinking Water, there’s truly no limit to what you can do.

Philippine Master Athletes To Prove Immortality Via the Asian Masters Athletics Championships

What do you think former national athletes, sometimes celebrated sports icons become after retiring from active sports competitions? Do they just revert to being regular individuals and fade into a sedentary lifestyle? The answer is NO, they don’t. They may have taken time to rest for sometime but once a warrior, always a warrior. So what they really turn out to be is to become IMMORTALS.

Today, 19 former national team athletes will prove just that as they go to Kitakami City in Japan to compete at the 18th Asian Masters Athletics Championships. In a nutshell, the Asian Masters Athletics Championships is a biennial athletics championships in Asia participated in by athletes over the age of 35. It is the Asian version of the World Masters (formerly Veterans) Athletic Championships inaugurated in 1975 held every two odd-numbered years. The Philippines have been represented yearly in this meet ever since 1996 with last year’s campaign lead by athletics legends Elma-Muros Posadas and Linda Lavandia. It resulted to a haul of 8 golds, 7 silvers and 5 bronze medals by this bumper crop. For this year’s edition, Team Philippines, supported by L Timestudio and Soma sports watch, is eyeing to match or even surpass this achievement.

Here is the list of the Philippine Delegation and the events they will be competing in:

Let us wish them all the best of luck and let us look forward to a successful Philippine campaign by our immortals!

The PINK RUN 2014

Did you know that breast cancer is the number one killer in Filipino women today? Studies also show that the Philippines has the most number of deaths caused by breast cancer. And not to forget, breast cancer afflicts not only women but men too. When men does get it, it is often too late for them. These are just some of the reasons why the Philippine Society of General Surgeons (PSGS), for the fourth year now, decided to hold a race – the Pink Run.

The Pink Run 2014 will be on October 5 at the Venice Pizza in McKinley Hill, Taguig City and is meant to raise awareness and gather funds for breast cancer research and treatment. This advocacy of the PSGS receives a much-needed boost this year as top athletic performance brand Under Armour joins the cause.

Together with the presentation of the running event to the members of media, Under Armour’s “I Will What I Want” women’s campaign has been launched together with pretty campaign ambassadors, Mia Cabalfin, Natasha Alquiros and Gretchen Ho among others. “I Will What I Want” is a movement that pushes forward a new standard of beauty that goes beyond face value – a standard that regards a woman for her strength, tenacity and toughness amid insurmountable odds. Perfect description fit for those who are fighting against breast cancer.

As Under Armour’s campaign and PSGS’ advocacy comes to perfect alignment, UA is out to provide full backing to the running event which is open to both male and female of all ages. Apart from this, UA will donate 10% of all their sales from the Under Armour Power in Pink women’s performance line to the PSGS.

Registering for this event provides us, as runners to contribute to this advocacy while doing what we love – running. See below for more run details.
