2014 McHAPPY DAY STRIPES RUN – December 6, 2014 + FREE RACE KIT Give-Away

I always have fond memories of my childhood. Mommy and Daddy will usually take us to church and at the absence of malls at that time, bring us to eat in a Manila-based restaurant and go to the Rizal Park or the nearby park’s playground or at the Manila Zoo afterwards. It is to be our usual weekend family bonding activity.

Nowadays, families go to the mall and eat most of the time at the kids’ favorite happy place, McDonald’s. There are also play or kid activity centers at the malls where the family will usually go to before or after they eat. Downside to these kiddie play centers is that most facilities /or activities are only for the kids to enjoy while the parents and older siblings just either watch the kids or go someplace else to do their own thing/interest.

That is why the emergence of family-friendly running events which cater to all members of the family have been very much welcome additions to the usual options for a weekend family bonding activity.

For a number of years now, McDonald’s provides a perfect family bonding activity via the McHappy Day Fun Run. This year, the event is dubbed as the 2014 McHappy Day Stripes Run. With this event, McDonald’s believes that kids can stay active and have fun at the same time with their parents being their own play mates.

  1. Having a busy mom and dad, makes my weekend the best part of the week. It allows us to spend the the best days of our lives together. We usually attend a mass together and eat in a certain restaurant. It’s quite unusual for us to eat outside together with the whole family so it end up to be a memorable one. Despite our busy schedules, it’s still in our minds that we should never forget to spend some time together as a family.

Aside from our usual dinner night out during special occasions (birthday celebrations, weddings etc). We seldom go out together as a family due to conflicting work, school and running schedules. To Catch up with the lost times we are bonded by travelling together, visiting places that all of us will enjoy from the young ones to the young at heart. Learning the local culture and experience some adventures during these trips makes it more memorable and fun for the entire family.

  3. My LOLA (grandmother, 73 years old) always stays inside the house watching her favorite telenovelas, sleep, and doing her daily chores. But every weekend, we always go to church and there is one thing that needs to be done after that.

It is a protocol that we should take LOLA with our kids to McDonalds. Yes “THIS IS REALLY TRUE! and Im not lying. My LOLA was deprived with sweets because of her condition. But we still want her to taste a slice of heaven through McDonald’s Sundae Ice Cream or MCFlurry at least once a week so we can still see her big smiles even she is toothless. Despite her age she is still a kid at heart when we go to McDonalds.

That is how our family spends a fun day outside the house! 🙂

Though it’s really hard to wake up early during weekends because of the very tiring weekday work schedule, we make it a point to go out every Saturday or Sunday to jog, play and dance either in Luneta, CCP or the MOA grounds. Words cannot describe how happy my daughter and her cousins were whenever they go out biking and running in the park. My wife would normally join the group of ladies dancing zumba while I do a 30-minute to 1 hour jog around. Of course our morning would not be complete without visiting our favorite Mc Donalds stores either in Kalaw (near Luneta), Harrison (near CCP) or in Blue Wave (near MOA) to enjoy the hot and delicious McDo breakfast meals with me reading the newspaper, my wife sipping her favorite Mcdo coffee and my daughter and her cousins playing with their new Mc Do Happy Meal toys.

  7. me and my wife wake up early and we do a short run, then we go to church to hear a mass with kids, and after that we watch a movie with our baon mc savers happy meal…

  8. Since weekdays are busy because of work and stuff, we make it a point to release some stress during the weekend. Usually, my wife and I, together with several kins, wake up early every Sunday morning for our weekend run around the neighborhood, visit my father-in-law’s tomb at the local cemetery, and enjoy a cup or two of taho. Sometimes, instead of running, we play ball games or make camping and eat breakfast there. After that, we’ll just fix ourselves and serve the church. Then, we’ll eat whatever my mother-in-law has prepared for us for lunch.

Our fun days are relatively simple, but quality time and just being together make our family bond so much stronger.
