For the runner who’s seeking the lightweight performance of a racing flat, but prefers the plush cushioning of an everyday trainer, Nike has introduced the new Nike LunarTempo. Inspired by its predecessor the Nike Lunaracer, the new Nike LunarTempo features enhanced durability, more support and added comfort.

Design inspiration came from the closets of some of the world’s fastest young runners, including the NBRO run crew in Copenhagen. Nike designers ran and met with athletes, studying their well-loved and worn-out collections of running shoes. Their shoe closets revealed that many runners had logged high mileage in their Nike Lunaracers and could benefit from more support and comfort to perform through the daily miles demanded in training.

Nike designers embraced the challenge and engineered the new Nike LunarTempo to provide the lightweight cushioning of racing flats with added support and durability.

“As always, our source of inspiration is the athlete. After seeing how many runners were using the race shoe for their everyday training, we used the insights as a framework for our design solutions,” said Dave Roulo, Senior Designer of Running Footwear. “The shoe was designed to deliver comfort, cushioning and responsive performance in training.”

CUSHIONING AND CONTROL FOR TEMPO RUNS

The Nike LunarTempo provides a soft yet responsive ride and a smooth, plush transition with its ultra-light, re-engineered Lunarlon foam. The resilient foam core is bonded to a lightweight phylon carrier for support. The system delivers an excellent blend of cushioning and support underfoot.

TUNED FOR THE MILES

Designers kept the flexibility and lightness runners know and love from the Nike Lunaracer and improved traction, durability and cushioning to withstand high mileage training. They did this by refining the outsole to include:

• A waffle shaped tread to help absorb impact and enhance durability and traction.
• Secondary waffle pistons to work with the midsole, help absorb impact and bounce back to the original shape for responsiveness.
• Durable carbon rubber in high-wear zones to enhance durability and traction.

LIGHTWEIGHT AND SUPPORT FOR EVERY STRIDE

The shoe’s upper includes Nike dynamic Flywire and Nike Flymesh for better support without adding weight or sacrificing breathability. The new proprietary Nike Flymesh is an engineered material that features a seamless lining and breathable top mesh for lightweight comfort. This new method of making allows designers to strategically place performance features where needed.

The Nike LunarTempo delivers the lightweight cushioning, comfort and traction needed to support runner’s rigorous daily training at any pace. The shoe weighs 6.2 ounces in a women’s size 8 and 7.4 ounces in a men’s size 10 and has an 8-millimeter offset. The Nike LunarTempo is available on nike.com.

A zippered back pocket serves to house personal items such as keys, and reflective elements provide enhanced visibility for runs in low-light conditions. Nike Legendary Lava Tight

The Nike Legendary Lava Tight infuses new print and color into one of Nike’s most popular tight franchises. Like all Legendary tights, it features a high waistband for optimal coverage. The ultra-soft and compressive nylon fabric helps provide comfort and an enhanced fit. The tight’s extremely vibrant color is achieved through a process called digital direct printing, which prints art directly onto the fabric.
