Under Armour lauds Fil-Am fighters Vera, Striegl for wins in ONE Championship

MANILA, Philippines – Under Armour Philippines supported ONE Championship’s year-end fight card as two beloved mixed martial arts athletes competed at the highly-anticipated “Age of Domination” event on Friday, December 2.

To the delight of Under Armour fans, Brandon Vera and Mark Striegl came out of the 20,000-seater SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City with their hands raised in triumph as both Filipino-American fighters scored impressive victories in their respective bouts.

Vera successfully defended his ONE Heavyweight World Championship, making easy work of previously unbeaten Japanese challenger Hideki Sekine to win by technical knockout just minutes into the first round.

From the opening bell, Vera began to land a series of solid blows on Sekine, who surprisingly took Vera’s best shots quite well.

Moments later, a thudding body kick connected for Vera, sending Sekine crashing to the canvas clutching his midsection. Vera then put on the finishing touches with punishing strikes from the top to get the win.

On the other hand, Striegl persevered through three grueling rounds against Bulgaria’s Sotir Kichukov to win by unanimous decision in a catchweight contest.

Striegl began the match aggressively, using superior speed and angles to stifle Kichukov who appeared unable to time Striegl’s erratic rhythm. Striegl took Kichukov down to the ground at will, controlling his opponent with a smothering top game.

In the end, all three judges saw the bout the same way with Striegl emerging as the victor.

Vera was the honorary guest in the opening of the Bonifacio High Street brand house in the same year, while Striegl has been an Under Armour gear user since he started his professional mixed martial arts career and was enlisted as a brand ambassador since 2015

7-Eleven’s RUN 2017 – February 5, 2017

The 2017 edition of the 7-Eleven Run Series is set to happen on February 5, 2017! The 5th of the series since the race’s inception will once again have the Filinvest City in Alabang and the Skyway as the “playground” of its various race categories from the kid’s 500-meter dash up to the bucket-list 42km race. It is touted to be the biggest and most exciting race of the series.

Cash prizes are in store for the top finishers from each category (except for the 500m dash) and the top 3 Filipino male and female finishers will be sponsored by 7-Eleven in competing in an international marathon in Asia, all expenses paid.

7-Eleven Run 2017 to be the Biggest and Most Exciting Race of the Series Yet

Manila, Philippines – December 6, 2016 – From attracting serious runners to recreational walkers all over the country, 7-Eleven Philippines’ hugely popular Run Series will once again take over Skyway and Filinvest City on February 5, 2017 for a day of fitness, family, freebies and all out fun.

The 7-Eleven Run Series has been gaining momentum since it started in 2013. With more than 12 thousand participants last year, Run 2017 promises to be the biggest and most exciting of the series yet!

Run 2017 will feature eight categories for runners to choose from. The 42KM, 21KM, 16KM, 10KM, and 10KM Buddy Run categories will see participants sweeping through Filinvest City and the Skyway, while the 5KM, 3KM and 500M Kids Run will be held along Filinvest City.

In an effort to strengthen women empowerment in our society through fitness and healthy lifestyle, Under Armour formed a partnership with Belle De Jour Power Planner and held an exclusive on-ground campaign dubbed “Women in Armour” last  November 19 at Maximus Café in Pasig City.

The objective of Under Armour and Belle De Jour’s passion series was to encourage ladies to engage into a healthy and active lifestyle as many women are having difficulties in pinpointing the right exercise or continuing their daily workout routine due to busy work schedules.

As living a healthy lifestyle is a fundamental component to achieving an optimal mental and physical well-being, the event catered an intense circuit training and self-defense seminar.

The express circuit training was led by Under Armour-affiliate trainer “Mama” Kat Geronimo, a renowned celebrity fitness coach who mentors notable film and television actresses such as Marian Rivera, Danica Sotto-Pingris, Melissa Ricks, Megan Young, Bettina Carlos, Anne Curtis and Jessy Mendiola.

On the other hand, Filipina fighter Geli Bulaong supervised the mixed martial arts (MMA) self-defense seminar with 50 women attendees.

Bulaong, who made history last November 6 as she became the first-ever URCC women’s flyweight champion by defeating Yan Qui Han via first-round technical knockout, conducted basic MMA drills and several self-defense techniques.

Known as an advocate of women empowerment, Bulaong also shared that she donated her entire fight purse to the Philippine Cancer Society to signify her support in increasing awareness and reducing stigma of breast cancer.

Participants of the afternoon affair were in for a special treat as they were given an opportunity to interact and talk to the country’s high-profile fitness connoisseurs.

“The Fittest Woman in Philippine Crossfit” Zoe Pond-McPherson hosted a fitness dialogue to flesh out every essential piece on embodying health and wellness.

Meanwhile, Beast House’s Gia Gapay discussed about the amatory art of pole dancing as a beneficial form of exercise for women.

One Of A Kind Marketing chief Tin Majadillas spearheaded the commercial aspect of the event as she tackled about women entrepreneurship, while fitness trainer Andy Leuterio also shared his expertise on making recreational sports and hobby as a business.

The event culminated by unveiling the Under Armour corner at Maximus Athlete’s Shop Café, which is located along Pioneer Street in Pasig City.
