Coke Studio Season 2 is all about “Collaborations and Coming Home”

PRESS RELEASE:

Coke Studio Season 2 goes deep to the heart of what we all want: to come home. And to give life to this idea of home, Coke Studio has gathered stellar talents from diverse genres, differing music scenes and backgrounds and even distant (and not so distant) shores to create works that not only reflect our times but could also define them. While the first season gave audiences a very real look into what goes into the production of a song, Season 2 delves more deeply into the back stories of the artists. This year, the format is also tweaked, as Coke Studio ventures out into the studio to let us all in each artist’s journey and yes, sometimes, literally, their very own homes. What is homecoming all about? It’s all about taking the best lessons of all your journeys and letting them all come together. It’s knowing that no matter how far you go, there will always be a place that is your home. It’s about roots. It’s where you’re accepted for who you are. It’s where you’re reunited with what you love. And who you love. That love and freedom gives you the power to voice out your views. To state what you believe in. To simply be listened to. To reignite what your heart desires. To simply be where you grew up. To return to where it all began. To feel, see, hear, and lift your spirits. Every single day. Homecoming is a chance to be all that you want to be, all that you can dream you can be, and to feel that faith that there is still so much more left to do! It’s about bringing out the best in you and being surrounded by those who inspire you.

Coke Studio bridges musical categories and brave artists to come up with collaborations that will break new ground. Moira Dela Torre brings her distinct and deeply felt artistry to this season’s stellar selection. Folk indie band and style rule breakers IV of Spades, bring the sound of now. The power of words is given a new dimension with rapper Quest. Sam Concepcion, who has made forays into theater and movies, returns to his first love: music. AJ Rafael crosses genres and general preconceived notions of music today. Ben&Ben who frames family within the flow of music itself. An exploration of what girl power can really reach is a fun and fresh K-pop but Pinay sensation Kriesha Chu. December Avenue, known for their soulful sound and the many layers in their music, show off the depth of their musical talents. Spoken word pioneer Juan Miguel Severo combines wokeness with wit and word play. The rap prodigy Shanti Dope will wow with his deftness and mad skills. Khalil Ramos reveals his deep affinity for singing and composition. DJ Patty Tiu expands the definition of dance music. And vocal powerhouse KZ Tandingan showcases a more vulnerable and heartfelt part of her artistic journey. There are also some surprises that will wow music lovers of all genres and generations.

The second season of Coke Studio further establishes itself as a hub of Pinoy talent by going beyond our local shores and connecting with Filipino talents of various genres. “We received such an overwhelming response during the first season of Coke Studio PH and this really inspired us to work harder this second season and explore ways to take it further. Last year, Coke Studio became a home for OPM and now we want to continue and strengthen that legacy, making sure that the younger generation and the new lineup of artists can feel the same sense of belonging,” enthuses Stephan Czypionka, Coca-Cola Vice President for Marketing.

And as this generation knows, more than any other in the past, that we all have the same home and same duty to care for that home, our planet Earth, Coca-Cola is going all out to make a big grand gesture on recycling. Along with the announcement of Coke Studio Season 2, Coca-Cola announced an industry-first goal to collect and recycle the equivalent of every bottle it sells by 2030, in line with the Company’s vision of a World Without Waste. At all Coke Studio events, all teens are encouraged to deposit their PET bottles in designated recycling bins. The Coke Studio TuneCycle, a stationary bicycle that grinds recyclable PET bottles will also be a part of all Coke Studio events; this will give a second life to the recyclable PET bottles and turn them to new materials.

Coke Studio emphasizes divergent musical acts coming together, and all these environmental initiatives are also programs for consumers and the company to come together. Every collaboration goes to the heart of connection, which is really what music is all about. When time and talent are given a free space to come together and just connect, the works brim with magic. Coke and music have always been deeply and constantly connected, to provide moments of fun and high spirits. Iconic jingles and unforgettable campaigns have, time and time again, captured the dynamic energy and infectious optimism of being young, being with friends and just being yourself. With Coke Studio Season 2, that special buzz and the undeniable electric wonder that only music can bring comes alive again.

Catch them every Sunday at 11:15am before ASAP on ABS-CBN.

Aftershokz Headphones now in the PH

Digital Walker, the country’s largest retailer of premium gadgets and accessories, has finally brought here in the Philippines the Aftershokz brand of headphones. The product was formally launched with a fun run at the BGC last August 30.

AfterShokz is touted to be the safest headphones for outdoor fitness. It is wireless and open-ear, placed on your cheekbones, just in front of your ears. This leaves your ear canals open, allowing you to remain alert and aware of ambient sounds while you enjoy your music.

This is made possible by what they call the bone conduction technology which transmits audio waves to the inner ears through the skull, bypassing the eardrums completely.

Its headphones promise to deliver the ultimate level of comfort and situational awareness, without compromising on premium sound, making it perfect for runners, cyclists, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Moreso, its Bluetooth® connectivity gives you the ability to be free of wires and make and receive phone calls.

Who says music and outdoor sports can’t come together? Check out these two products from this line and see which appeals to you.

Aftershokz Trekz Titanium (Php5,690)

Won the CES Innovations Award and Red Dot Award for its outstanding design and engineering. The backbone of the industrial design is a premium titanium frame, an element chosen not only for its strength and durability but also for its infinite flexibility.

AfterShokz Trekz Air (Php8,590)

The next generation in bone conduction technology and the brand’s lightest headphones, which delivers comfort and sound quality at the same time. Inspired by the demands of elite and aspiring athletes, the Trekz Air is 20% lighter than Trekz Titanium, weighing just 1.06oz.

Both headphones feature:

  • OpenFit™ – Promising uncompromised situational awareness and extended comfort in a revolutionary open ear design. That means you can tune in to your music or a call without tuning out the world around you—vital for staying safe and alert as you move through the day. Its full titanium wraparound design provides infinite flexibility, a secure fit, and the ultimate level of comfort that can withstand the most rigorous of activities.
  • PremiumPitch+™ Sound – Bone conduction audio has earned its bad reputation due to a blend of natural sound leakage and weak bass. PremiumPitch+™ technology optimizes the sound and includes additional features like LeakSlayer™ technology, which ensures music is directed exactly where it should be.
  • Titanium Frame: The backbone of the industrial design is a premium titanium frame, an element chosen not only for its strength and durability, but also for its infinite flexibility, which will deliver maximum comfort, portability, and the very best sound.
  • Sweat Resistant: Built to power through daily sweat sessions and wicked weather. IP55 rated to repel sweat, moisture and dust.
  • Six Hours of Music and Calls: A single charge will reliably deliver six hours of music play and talk time. You can charge fully in 1.5 hours, but a quick 15-minute charge provides enough boost to get you through a long workout or marathon call.
  • Noise Canceling Mics: Precisely placed dual noise-cancelling microphones exclude surrounding noise, effectively enhancing speech.
  • Voice Prompts: Audrey Says™ seamlessly guide you through power, pair, play and talk, and everything in between.

Coke Studio PH returns for season 2 via the Coke Studio Homecoming

Remember when Coca-Cola launched the first ever Coke Studio in the Philippines last year? It was meant to entice the young Filipino’s love for Original Filipino Music and thereby empower them in the process. It was such a hit that this year, Coca-Cola decided to come together with music once again and bring back Coke Studio PH for its second season!

This year’s edition, dubbed as the Coke Studio Homecoming, presents an awesome line-up of Filipino singers and bands who are set to feature collaborations and unique music renditions.

13 of 14 Season 2 artists were present at the launch at the World Trade Center. They are funk-rock band IV of Spades, spoken word artist Juan Miguel Severo, rapper Shanti Dope, hip-hop and R&B artist Quest, Filipina K-Pop sensation Kriesha Chu, singer-songwriter Moira Dela Torre, Fil-Am acoustic/pop singer and YouTube personality AJ Rafael, DJ Patty Tiu, alternative/indie band December Avenue, 22-year-old actor/singer Khalil Ramos, all-around performer Sam Concepcion, multi-awarded singer KZ Tandingan and nine-piece Filipino folk-pop band Ben&Ben! Artist #14 was not revealed then as this will be season 2’s surprise artist.

If you are one who loves music and digs OPM, do watch Coke Studio Homecoming every Sunday, right before ASAP at ABS-CBN. The show premieres tomorrow, September 16 (Sunday), with its first ever artist collaboration – IV of Spades will finally meet their wildcard – Shanti Dope!

Finding home with music and a bottle of Coke
Coke Studio returns with an amazing line up of local and international artists

There are many things that make us feel at home – laughing and spending quality time with our favorite people, munching on our go-to comfort food along with a refreshing drink, or even listening to a song that brings back precious memories.

When we return to where we feel valued and accepted, when we’re reunited with the things and the people we love, when we look gratefully at our past experiences both good and bad, and when we remember the passions that inspire us, we come home.

These unique instances are our own moments of homecoming. When we recall a special moment, the memory comes with a tune that was playing in the background, a lyric that stood out, a beat that fit the mood, and sometimes even a Coke in hand.

With the perfect jam playing and a bottle of Coca-Cola, simple moments with our friends and family become more fun, more memorable and more uplifting.

Now, music and Coca-Cola come together once more to give young music lovers and Original Pinoy Music (OPM) artists a new home at Coke Studio Homecoming.

In line with the Company’s thrust to empower the youth, Coca-Cola tapped into young Filipinos’ love for music through Coke Studio PH in 2017. Coke Studio PH became a haven where the diversity of OPM was celebrated.

This year, Coca-Cola connects to Filipino teens once again as Coke Studio PH returns to make them feel at home with the familiar sounds of OPM, giving them an avenue to show their love and support for local music.

For its second season, Coke Studio PH also further establishes itself as a hub of Pinoy talent, as it introduces a stellar lineup of local and international Filipino artists across various genres.

While the previous season brought together veteran artists and budding musicians, Coke Studio Homecoming calls Filipino artists who have shared their talents to the world to return to their roots and bridges them with homegrown talents who have yet to stand on the international stage.

From this colorful mix of talented Filipino singers and bands, Coke Studio Homecoming will feature groundbreaking, new collaborations between artists, as well as unique renditions of their original songs.

Coke Ambassadors will also find their way back home this season, as Coke Studio Homecoming features familiar faces, including the brand’s most memorable endorsers and Coke Studio artists from the first season.

“We received such an overwhelming response during the first season of Coke Studio PH and this really inspired us to work harder this second season and explore ways to take it further. Last year, Coke Studio became a home for OPM and now we want to continue and strengthen that legacy, making sure that the younger generation and the new lineup of artists can feel that same sense of belonging,” said Stephan Czypionka, Coca-Cola Philippines Vice President for Marketing.

While uniting teens through music, Coca-Cola takes it a step further by enabling them to do their part for a greater cause. This year, Coca-Cola announced an industry-first goal to collect and recycle the equivalent of every bottle or can it sells globally by 2030—a goal in line with the Company’s vision of a World Without Waste. This is why during all Coke Studio events, Coca-Cola encourages teens to deposit their PET bottles in designated recycling bins. The Coke Studio TuneCycle, a stationary bicycle that also grinds PET bottles, will also be a staple in Coke Studio events. These ground PET bottles will later on be turned into eco-bricks.

There’s plenty more in store so stay tuned and let the sounds of OPM call you home!
