adidas Launches New PULSE BOOST HD at Night Mile Race Manila

Last August 24, I was lucky enough to be part of a big adidas celebration – first, the official launch of the new adidas PULSE BOOST HD and second, the second year anniversary of the adidas Runners Manila club. adidas made the occasion very special by holding a free run – the Night Mile Race. It was drizzling but it did not stop over a hundred runners from participating in this intimate 5-relay night run. 

I arrived at the Intramuros welcomed by the energy of all the people getting ready to join the race. I was told that the race was a 5-member relay run wherein runners 1-4 are expected to complete a one-mile loop and runner 5 completing a 2-mile loop. The fastest male and female group will each win a pair of the new adidas Pulse Boost HD per member.

After the run, all participants were treated to a buffet dinner at Barbara’s restaurant. Truly an anniversary celebration of sorts!

The star of the night, adidas Pulse Boost HD, is the newest upgrade of adidas’ greatest asset, the boost technology. It boasts of the following features:

• Continental™ Adaptive Traxion, a new Continental™ Rubber outsole developed by artificial intelligence, giving maximum grip to quickly change direction on any surface, dry or wet.
• Adapt Knit, a new flexible upper that stretches where you need it.
• Spotify Integration, a QR code on the tongue links directly to a custom playlist based on where you are in the world. Once you’ve scanned the code, you’ll unlock the exclusive playlist.

adidas Runners Manila (aRM) got to put the Pulseboost HD to the test at the Night Mile Race Manila, a collective relay with two categories made available — Open, for beginner and intermediate runners, and Elite, for intermediate to advanced runners. The relay had a total distance of five miles, with each member of a team running one mile. The top teams for each category were awarded at the celebration after the run, which was held at Batala Bar in Intramuros, Manila.

New Year’s Treat: FREE 7-Eleven Run 2018 10K Race Registration!

As we all have learned by now, it’s a little over a month until the much-awaited 7-Eleven Run Series! What makes it truly special this year is the fact that the awesome people from Philippine Seven Corporation decided to take it to the next level by holding not just one race but three races simultaneously in three different cities in the country!

Yep, the 7-Eleven Run Series this February 4, 2018, won’t just happen in Metro Manila (Filinvest City, Alabang) but also in Cebu and Davao! All three races will feature the same race categories: 42KM, 21KM, 10KM, 16KM, 10KM, 10KM Buddy, 5KM, 5KM Buddy, 3KM and 500 Meter (Kids run).

Meanwhile, as a new year’s treat, this blog, in partnership with 7-Eleven Run 2018 event partner Del Monte Fit and Right Active, will be giving away 10k race kits to random readers of this blog from Manila, Cebu and Davao! That’s 10k race kits for each race venue!

The mechanics are pretty simple:

Under Armour’s Charged BANDIT 3 – My Initial Impression

Under Armour has recently released the newest iteration of their Charged Bandit running shoe line – Bandit 3 and it surely is set to steal a runner’s heart away!

Designed to be “street ready”, it not only boasts of its ability to satisfy a runner’s need for a great performance shoe, it is also stylish enough to be an everyday shoe. 

Thanks to the people of Under Armour Philippines, I got the chance to get first dibs on a pair of Bandit 3!

I also have the first two generations of the Bandit shoes and I believe that this third iteration is the best Bandit shoe so far!

Here are my initial impressions:

• its upper material is knitted, makes it more lightweight (lighter than Bandit 2) and breathable 
• it fits well and is comfortable to wear – for someone with a narrow feet like mine, i love how the shoe hugs my feet
• there is enough cushioning on the heel, making the back of my feet fit securely in place – oh and I love that the heel counter has this small cushion that is like a pillow that wraps around my heel. so comfy!
• For minimalists, it is good to note that this shoe has lessened the heel-toe drop from 10mm to 8mm. 
• The charged cushioning feature of the Bandit 2 is still present in this iteration – great news for “neutral runners” who wants not only a lightweight shoe but one with responsive feedback as well.
• IT IS A LOOKER! I have only worn it a few number of times but I have been getting gazes and glances on my feet whenever I have it on. 🙂

The Under Armour has definitely redefined the word “bandit” in a positive way. I enjoyed using the Bandit 3 – whether from running a short 5km or just simply walking. And I am truly excited to find out what more this pair can deliver for me, as I continue using it.

Tara, Siargao Racecation?!

Lately, “in” ngayon ang mga foot races which takes runners to different places in the country and at times, out of it. Kasi naman, malaking bagay din ang diversity sa pagtakbo. One, you get to take-in a whole new sight while running (bawas boredom lalo na pag long run!) and then at times, you also get to enjoy a much needed respite, especially if the race venue is out of town – away from the bustling metropolis, ika nga!

If ganyan ang hanap mo sa mga runs mo ngayon, then RunRio has one such race for you! It’s the Siargao International Marathon!

Ang Siargao, sabi ni Wikipedia, “is a tear-drop shaped island in the Philippine Sea situated 800 kilometers southeast of Manila in the province of Surigao del Norte.”. Ako pag na-mention ang Siargao, ang naiisip ko white, sandy beaches and crystal clears waters na patok mag-surfing!
