“Feel the rhythm, hear my feelings”

Today’s TeenGen is a lot more vocal and expressive with what they’re going through or what’s on their minds. Whether it be a kilig moment with crush, heartbreak, getting recognized in school, or a cause they strongly support, teens of these days can teach us a thing or two about having no holds barred.

It has been a year since our Homecoming to Teen Love, this year, Coke Studio brings us its 3rd Season: MyFeels. Indeed, no one does it better than Coke when it comes to launches with the Coke Studio Music Festival that commenced the Coke Studio Season 3: MyFeels last August 23 at the Circuit Makati with our hosts from the Summer Concert Ylona Garcia and Justin Quirino.

Headlined by Coke Studio Season 3 artists, we welcomed the rainy season with rush of water and stream of feelings ranging from love, freedom, independence, and moving forward. We moved to the groove with Iñigo Pascual, Ron Henley, Al James, Lola Amour, This Band, and Miss Sarah Geronimo while Janine Teñoso, Clara Benin, Bea Lorenzo, Silent Sanctuary, Brisom, St. Wolf, Just Hush, UDD, and Morisette serenaded us with their solo performances. Also giving us surprise numbers were Coke Studio Seasons 1 and 2 alums Ben & Ben, December Avenue, and IV of Spades.

We used to be shy about sharing what we feel, no matter what it is, to people around us even the ones we trust. Coke Studio: MyFeels is here to turn the tables, its time to celebrate our feels and make it known that no one can dictate the validity of our feelings.

Just when we thought 2019 is going too fast and time is running out for us, Coke Studio came to the rescue with its 3rd Season and made us realize to celebrate every single thing no matter how little they are, look out for the possibilities that learning from triumphs and slumps can give us, and keep in touch with the feels of people around us and ourselves.

Catch them every Saturday starting September 14, at 10am on ABS-CBN.

Sports and Athletes interpreted through Visual Arts at the Maximus Athlete Shop Cafe

There’s this one multisport shop that always amazes me everytime I set foot in it. Apart from it’s jaw-dropping gears for sale, and its cafe’s truly delish food and coffee, there is always something new to discover and appreciate.

I was there last Thursday and walked right swak into a shop decked with art on exhibit! You just gotta love the Maximus Athlete Shop Cafe, it is more than just a shop and cafe!

Currently on-going until December 12 is the Base Camp Art Exhibit where several young artists expressed their take on multisport and the athletes through various forms of art.

The exhibit was conceptualized and being held in partnership between Maximus and Tin-aw Art Gallery.

Don’t just take my word for it, swing by and see for yourself! If you are lucky, you might be able to still score a few art pieces as when I was there, a lot have been sold already.

BASE CAMP: Exploring the World of the Athlete through Art

The premier cycle cafe proudly unveils “Base Camp”, a collaborative venue with Tin-aw Art Gallery.

A merging of art and athleticism, “Base Camp” brings together twenty-two (22) young artists to express their views on the life of the athlete, the physical body movement using their medium of choice. The artists include: Ambie Abaño, Renato Barja Jr., Mars Bugaoan, Lennard Buhay, Ian Cadiong, Francis Commeyne, Cian Dayrit, Anton Del Castillo, Gale Encarnacion, Carzen Esprela, Gab Ferrer, Lui Gonzales, Lofranco, Henrielle Pagkaliwangan, Lee Paje, Julio San Jose, Jun-jun Sta. Ana, Nicole Tee, Clairelynn Uy, Eunice Vergara, Jemime Yabes. “Base Camp” is the first of what is hoped to be a series of exhibitions between Maximus and Tin-aw, as the two see a vibrant world that can be expressed both through sport and art.

“More than finishing times or medals, sport allows a person to express his physicality, his grit, his soul in the competitive arena. Yet art is just another way of expressing this aspect of living. With ‘Base Camp’, we want to be known as more than just a café or sports shop. We are about the passion for living, which you can experience on a bicycle, on the trail, and through this show that Tin-aw has curated for us.” says Maximus’ director, Andy Leuterio.

For Dawn Atienza, Director of Tin-aw Art Gallery, “Art is every where. And as such an art gallery is not just within the white walls of its exhibit space, but in the world around.” Sport and the Active Lifestyle merges well with Art because it deals with people, their physical bodies as well as the environment we all live in. We are very happy with Maximus X Tin-aw and “Base Camp” is just the first of a series of exhibits in Maximus.”

Unlimited Will aids quadruple amputee Kyle Maynard to go beyond his limits

“Unlimited Will” celebrates an extraordinary athlete, Kyle Maynard, and his determination to surmount any challenge in his path. From the 2nd installment of the Unlimited Campaign comes the third and final one which narrates Kyle Maynard’s strong will to go beyond his limits.

30-year-old Maynard describes himself as a climber, author, athlete and speaker with a “general life philosophy of specializing in not specializing.” He’s also the first quadruple amputee to ascend Mount Kilimanjaro without the aid of prosthetics.

Watch this video to see Kyle’s extraordinary story:

“We don’t see the countless hours of failure that got into it. That failure sets us up for the success because we know what we needed to change.” – Kyle Maynard

The “Unlimited Will” film is the final installment in the Nike “Unlimited” Campaign, which includes the “Unlimited Courage” film, “Unlimited You” film, Unlimited Youth film and the company’s recent series of athlete shorts. It hails both the everyday and champion athletes who regularly push their limits — and who are poised to prove their unlimited potential this summer and beyond.

“Unlimited Will” celebrates an extraordinary athlete, Kyle Maynard, and his determination to surmount any challenge in his path.

“The defining, life-changing moment [for me] was making my first tackle in football, just taking my helmet and smashing it in another guy’s shins as hard as I could,” declares Kyle Maynard.

30-year-old Maynard describes himself as a climber, author, athlete and speaker with a “general life philosophy of specializing in not specializing.” He’s also the first quadruple amputee to ascend Mount Kilimanjaro without the aid of prosthetics.

Born in Washington, D.C., with a rare condition known as congenital amputation, Maynard made that critical football tackle in middle school then switched to wrestling in high school. ”I lost 35 times in a row in a year and a half,” he remembers. “I just kept failing and failing but then finally figured it out. And then by the time I was a senior, people were saying that I was unfairly advantaged.”

“Sometimes when we look at an athlete who has done something in a different way, done something big, done something unique, and we only see the successes.” Maynard adds. “We don’t see the countless hours of failure that go into it. That failure set us up for the success because we know what we needed to change.”

Maynard applies this same try-until-you-achieve attitude, alongside a signature “No excuses” maxim, as an internationally competitive jiu-jitsu fighter, world record-setting weightlifter and mountaineer, who beyond tackling the pure physical challenges of summiting Africa’s tallest peak had to devise his own equipment. Though he now uses an elite custom climbing system, Maynard initially wrapped towels around the end of his arms, securing them with tape.
“If you’re doing something first, you don’t have that path laid out for you so you just have to go and figure it out,” Maynard explains. “You learn how to use your mind. You learn: How do I not fall apart when I have something bad happen to me? How do I get through and overcome bigger challenges? How do I adapt? The lessons that you learn in your sport can transcend into every area of your life, in your relationships and in just any dream that you have.”

The Urbanears Active Hellas

Sometime in March, I received at no cost, the Urbanears Active Hellas wireless headphones. In exchange is my promise to use and provide feedback on the product afterwards. I have shared the press release and features of the product on a previous post which you can check HERE.

Nowabout two months after, here is my honest and unbiased review of the product. Read on! 😉

The Urbanears Active Hellas sounds surprisingly good for its modest price. It is delightfully lightweight and comfortable to wear too.

This Bluetooth headphone can wirelessly stream music or movie sound without the hindrance of a cable and there’s a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides up to 14 hours of wireless playback between charges.

The sound quality for music is also very good. Music can be controlled using the finger-touch-swipe action on one ear with an LED indicator on top –  the volume via a swipe up/down action, next/previous track selection via a swipe to the left or right, play/pause  via a single/double tap and touch-hold for a few seconds to power on/off.

It is attractively designed, lightweight, sweat-proof and with a removable headband and earpads that are washable. I especially like the white and blue color combination of the product that was sent to me. It’s pretty comfortable too (for on-ear) and stays on my head securely, even while running.

The material of the earpads is slightly rough though and the Bluetooth pairing with my Sony Xperia Z3 sometimes has sound interruption when the phone is placed inside my bag. However, this may be a case to case basis depending on the Bluetooth implementation in smartphones. The sound interruption however, was not encountered when the headphone was paired with two different notebook brands. The headband can easily fall off if not properly inserted in the frame maybe owing to the fact that it’s removable for easy cleaning/washing.

I let my daughter use it whenever she is watching her favorite series or movies and she too is amazed to hear sound details not present in her old wired headphones. I am afraid that she has gotten so comfortable with it and might ask that I give it to her permanently. 🙂

In conclusion, for me, the Urbanears Active Hellas are an appealing set of wireless workout headphones that can also be used for running and everyday use. For its price of Php5,250, it is worth the investment. Mine still looks like it has just been unboxed from the package.

The Urbanears Active Hellas can be purchased from any of the following stores in the country –

14 Surpring Facts

Power-packed nutrition profile for STRENGTH, STAMINA and ENERGY

Sante Barley Max NZ is a nutritional supplement made from PURE, NATURAL and ORGANIC New Zealand barley to help build STAMINA, STRENGTH and ENERGY for the everyday gladiator. It has immunity-building vitamins and minerals, free-radical fighting chlorophyll, energy-boosting amino acids, and anti-aging live enzymes to help you maintain good health against the odds of nature.

Each Sante Barley Max NZ 500mg capsule contains pure barley grass powder. It is safely packed in vegetable capsules and in blister strips for handy and convenient use anywhere, anytime.

Nutrient-rich young barley grass provides energy and immunity-boosting vitamins, minerals, amino-acids and enzymes that our body needs.

Not every farm that claims to be organic is organic. Santé provides only organic barley from farms certified by BioGro, New Zealand’s leading organic certification agency. BioGro is accredited by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) which represents the best in international organic standards. The BioGro certificate assures us that there are no unsafe levels of heavy metal, herbicide, and insecticide residues. New Zealand farms cannot be “certified organic” if unsafe residues are found. The farm must undergo residue testing as part of its certification.

Not only is organic good for you, it is also good for the environment. Organic foods promote healthier and more sustainable use of natural resources.

Sante Barley Max NZ’s grass comes from the Canterbury Plains of New Zealand. It is the ideal place for producing barley grass powder because its alluvial soils are young and fertile, irrigation water is fresh and pure, and the air is clean and unpolluted. In the presence of high UV light, the barley leaves grow deep, green, chlorophyll-rich leaves, which provide high levels of vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and amino acids.

Every Santé Barley Max NZ 500mg capsule contains pure barley, without any additives nor artificial color.

Freshly harvested barley is immediately transported to the manufacturing plant for drying, milling, and packing. It takes only 1-6 hours between harvest and drying of fresh barley leaves using a patented process that assures preservation of vitamins, mineral, enzymes, and amino acids.
