The sounds of Pinoy music will definitely get a refreshing taste now that the Coke Studio has been opened in the country, bringing a fresh experience for the local music industry.

The first of its kind in the country, Coke Studio is a music TV show that encourages collaborations among Filipino artists – bringing together different musical genres, the young and seasoned artists, and the mainstream with the indie. Coke Studio is a celebration of the rich diversity in OPM and the central unifying role of music among Filipinos.

“Coke has always been about encouraging personal expression among the younger generation of teens, and what better way to unite them but through a universal language, which is music. This is what Coke Studio is all about. We are making music our tool of choice to connect with teens,” said Stephan Czypionka, Coca-Cola Philippines Vice President for Marketing.

Coke Studio also serves as a stage that will showcase and highlight the wonderfully surprising new music that comes out from the collaborations between OPM legends and upcoming artists: Noel Cabangon, Curtismith, Moonstar88, Jensen and the Flips, Sandwich, BP Valenzuela, Gabby Alipe and John Dinopol of Urbandub, The Ransom Collective, Abra, Gracenote, singer-composer Ebe Dancel, Autotelic, Franco, and singer-songwriter Reese Lansangan.

Coke Studio is hosted by OPM powerhouse Raymund Marasigan and Buddy Zabala, both from Eraserheads – one of the country’s most iconic rock bands. More than just a TV show, Coke Studio brings the viewer to the real experience – giving a first-hand, front seat view of the collaboration and how each artist bares their soul in the performance.

“As soon as they started playing their instruments, they just forgot about everything else,” said Marasigan on the experience inside the Coke Studio. “And a great artist will really come out with something, will produce something! Some artists may have come unprepared, but once they were in there, they just brought it out.”

But the Coke Studio experience does not stop there. An interactive Coke Studio truck will roam around the country to give university bands an opportunity to perform and interact with the artists.

Coke Studio is also joining some of the biggest fiestas and festivals nationwide with the Coke Canreaoke – an interactive installation loaded with OPM hits for anyone who wants to showcase their singing prowess.

Coca-Cola Philippines recognizes the strong influence of music in the lives of Filipinos – a unifying thread that goes beyond language and dialect, political views and boundaries, and even religion.

With Coke Studio, Coca-Cola Philippines brings a new taste to the sound of Pinoy music.

One month to go until “The Mercenary” AJ Matthews’ return to the Bellator 181 cage!

It’s a little over one month before Fil-American AJ ‘The Mercenary’ Matthews is set for action as part of Bellator 181 fight line-up this July.

One of the up-and-coming international fighters, Matthews has been preparing hard for his next fight which is set to happen on the 14th of July at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. He has been seen devoting most of his waking hours into training and building relationships with his fellow Filipino Fighters both local and international.

The role of Matthews as professional striking coach of ONE Championship heavyweight champion Brandon Vera and several other UFC champions have also helped him in his preparation for his fight.

Matthews fight records include impressive victories such as a first-round technical knockout over Kyle Bolt at Bellator 131 in 2014, and a knockout win over Charlie Rader at Bellator 70 in 2012.

The 29-year-old has also been a pride of his fellow Filipino fighters as he has recently based himself now in Philippines with his team MMA Alliance. Matthews, whose mother traces her roots in Tacloban, has been embraced by his Filipino fans with open arms with his humility and charm.

Bounty Fresh Chicken’s New SAUCY TORIKARAAGE Perfect for Kids’ School Baon!

Bounty Fresh, one of the country’s biggest suppliers of value‐added chicken products and fresh-chilled chicken, recently introduced its newest innovation – the Saucy ToriKaraage, an all-natural lean and chicken meat which comes in two different sauces, Teriyaki and Sweet and Sour.

It can be cooked in as fast as eight (8) minutes over medium heat and perfect for Filipinos on-the-go and who are always on the look-out for quicker and more convenient ways to go about their daily chores, including cooking their meals.

As a mother of school-age kids and now that the new school year is about to open, I find it to be perfect as “baon” for my kids who go to school or for the members of the family who go to work everyday. In week day mornings where a bustle of activities here and there is happening, a quick-fix meal is always a welcome treat!

Priced at on Php179 per 450-gram pack, the Bounty Fresh Saucy ToriKaraage is available in all leading supermarkets nationwide.

Tara, Siargao Racecation?!

Lately, “in” ngayon ang mga foot races which takes runners to different places in the country and at times, out of it. Kasi naman, malaking bagay din ang diversity sa pagtakbo. One, you get to take-in a whole new sight while running (bawas boredom lalo na pag long run!) and then at times, you also get to enjoy a much needed respite, especially if the race venue is out of town – away from the bustling metropolis, ika nga!

If ganyan ang hanap mo sa mga runs mo ngayon, then RunRio has one such race for you! It’s the Siargao International Marathon!

Ang Siargao, sabi ni Wikipedia, “is a tear-drop shaped island in the Philippine Sea situated 800 kilometers southeast of Manila in the province of Surigao del Norte.”. Ako pag na-mention ang Siargao, ang naiisip ko white, sandy beaches and crystal clears waters na patok mag-surfing!

So yun na nga, kung ang trip mo lately ay to “commune with nature” while running and then mag-time out din for a few days after, then maybe the Siargao International Marathon might be the perfect “racecation” for you.

O pano, tara racecation? Sayo race, akin yun vacation? Haha, cheers!
