The Greenfield City Sunset Run 2010

Armed with the successes and learnings from last year’s race, Greenfield Development Corporation together with top race organizer Finishline, now brings to us the second edition of the annual race – The Greenfield City Run. Now tagged as the Greenfield City Sunset Run 2010, this year’s race is aptly named because the race veers away from the usual early morning city races. Aside from the venue being the residential and industrial development in Sta Rosa, Laguna – Greenfield City, the race will be held on the late afternoon enticing runners with not just an out-of-town race but also a sunset run experience. With the sun’s heat providing a big challenge to runners this summer and not to mention the boredom of running in the same race route over and over, this event is one that is just too good to pass up on.

Check below the race details as shared to us by Greenfield Development Corporation and Finishline during the event’s Blogger’s Launch held last March 29. Read on folks! 🙂

Oh and I will never forget to still give my heartfelt thanks to both the good people of Greenfield Development Corporation and Finishline for giving me a few moments of the event to celebrate my birthday with all those present. I was really touched with the surprise birthday cake and the birthday song and greetings. Sayang, I wasn’t able to bring balloons! LOL! Just kidding. Again, many, many thanks! 😀

Choosing Between Two LOVES

I have always found it easy to juggle my outdoor activity schedules for running and mtbiking with ease. I love doing both but when it comes to organized races (for running) or rides (for mtbiking), I never had the problem of having to choose between the two because the events I always want to join in doesn’t conflict with the other. Oh, there was one time that they did, but I was still able to do both – joined a running event but opted to do just the 5k and went to join a trail ride right after running.

But last Sunday was to be my greatest challenge. There was the scheduled Greenfield City Run at Sta. Rosa organized by Finishline and then there was this yearly biking event called Tour of the Fireflies (ToF). Weeks before, I already knew that I have to do some choosing. I can in no way do both because venue and time are directly in conflict with each other. I realized that I really like to do any of the two, making it hard for me to come up with a decision. Napakahirap! Even with a “pro-and-con-list” (yes, I made a list to compare both!), I can’t choose.

Then on Holy Thursday, Pol dropped by the house and gave me, as he said, “my” ToF jersey. Unknowingly, he also registered for me when he did. So with all the painstaking thoughts and what-nots, I decided to join the Tour of the Fireflies and passed on the Greenfield City Run. My justification? I have been without any runs – practice or otherwise- since my Condura 21k last March and it may be better to start getting back into the physical activities doing the less intense one (they say that biking is less demanding physically than running) AND of course, I could not disappoint my friend who thoughtfully registered for me for the ToF and hey, he did get the correct size for my jersey ha. Perfect! 🙂

The events happened yesterday. My friends who were at Greenfield enjoyed another well-organized race which has been the signature of all races falling into the hands of the “Coach Rio-and-Vince-tandem”, who we now know and recognize collectively as Finishline. Half of my thoughts were with them yesterday and I must admit, with all the pictures that I am seeing so far, I cannot avoid feeling envious. I could have been there too but then, I chose to have fun someplace else. Oh, much fun i really had! I had a great time at the ToF, I biked the whole route of EDSA together with Pol, running buddy Bobby, who I was able to invite last minute but still decided to join, and some 5,000+ other bikers albeit the super annoying heat of the sun. I will be sharing my ToF 2009 experience and pics in a while, watch out for it. 😉

Ha! There you go folks! It’s nice to be loving a lot of things and liking and enjoying every moment that you indulge in it. But when it comes to having to choose to do just one of both, it is really hard pala. One is equally good as the other. And in choosing, you just have to rely on your decision, stick with it and make the most out of it. As for me, I just psyched myself with the thought – “ok lang yan, marami pa namang runs!”.

See you at the outdoor!

Greenfield City Run – April 19

greenfield-662x10241

Missed the fun at the Condura 2009 Half? Or are you looking for another half marathon to run in to make up for a not so satisfying Condura half finish? Tired of joining races covering the same race routes? Are you itching for another race that can awaken the running spirit within you?

Maybe the Greenfield City Run is what’s best for you. This Finishline-organized race which will happen on April 19, will have the regular race distances of 2k, 5k, 10k and as an added bonus, a 21k. That’s another half marathon race distance three weeks after the euphoria over Condura has died down. What’s best, the race venue will be at Greenfield City, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. So folks, this is one out-of-town race which doesn’t come by us every so often.

Hey if that still doesn’t interest you, the event also has lots of fun activities scheduled for the day. You can opt to bring the whole family to enjoy in this event. There’s a coffee and pastry fair, weekend market, outdoor outlet bazaar (woohoo, I AM EXCITED ALREADY!), and a children’s play area.

View the pics below to get an idea of what Greenfield City has instore for all of us. Start training peeps!
