Team 7-Eleven Philippines Ready for the Ho Chi Minh City Intl Marathon in Vietnam

Five of the 16 Filipino Elite Runners to represent Team 7-Eleven Philippines were guests in the Sports Show – “The Game” together with 7-Eleven’s Gen. Merchandise Division Head and Managing Director for Digital, Mr Jose C. Ang, Jr.

After two years of being relegated to a virtual race format due to the pandemic, the 7-Eleven Run Series had its much-awaited big comeback via the in-person/physical race format last September 25, 2022, at the Filinvest City in Alabang and in Cebu Business Park and SM City Davao for the Cebu and Davao legs, respectively.

This 2022 race series was very much anticipated by both recreational and competitive runners because apart from providing a very challenging but well-organized run, 7-Eleven Philippines, the run series’ prime mover, and with the support of their various sponsors has always prepared awesome post-run treats for everybody.

Out of the total 35,000 participants for all three legs, the top overall Filipino male and female runners from the 42k, 32km, and 21km categories will be given a chance to compete in an international race event. This year, the race will be the 5th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Seeing action this December 11, 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City are the following qualifiers:

Out of the 16 qualifiers, six are having their international race debut courtesy of 7-Eleven Philippines. Those who qualified for the first time are Florencio Lapiz ( 42km, 3rd overall male), Arlan Arbois and Jerome Casinillo (32km, 1st and 2nd overall, respectively) Rosalyn Tadias and Stephanie Cadosale (32km, 2nd and 3rd overall female, respectively), and Roy Laudit (21km, 3rd overall male).

Since its inception last 2013, The Run 7-Eleven Series became a channel for Filipino elite runners to show their skills and talent as runners and prove that they have what it takes to compete with runners from all over the world through an international race. The delegation will travel and compete, all expenses paid for, with pocket money, and their needs are taken care of. Apart from this, runners who successfully finish in any of the top three overall spots in their respective category will not only bring home the race prizes but also receive a bonus cash prize from 7-Eleven Philippines.

This is the first time that Philippine Seven Corporation will be sending a Team 7-Eleven Philippines delegation to an international race again after taking a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.” 7-Eleven Philippines will continue with its grass-roots program to nurture and support our Filipino runners who aspire to get the chance to represent the country in an international race,” shared 7-Eleven General Merchandise Division Head and Managing Director for Digital, Mr. Jose C. Ang Jr.

The delegation, composed of the 16 Filipino elite runners together with executives from Philippine Seven Corporation, is scheduled to leave for Vietnam on Friday, December 9, 2022. This gives the runners enough time to get settled and prepare for the race on Sunday, December 11, 2022.

Tara, Siargao Racecation?!

Lately, “in” ngayon ang mga foot races which takes runners to different places in the country and at times, out of it. Kasi naman, malaking bagay din ang diversity sa pagtakbo. One, you get to take-in a whole new sight while running (bawas boredom lalo na pag long run!) and then at times, you also get to enjoy a much needed respite, especially if the race venue is out of town – away from the bustling metropolis, ika nga!

If ganyan ang hanap mo sa mga runs mo ngayon, then RunRio has one such race for you! It’s the Siargao International Marathon!

Ang Siargao, sabi ni Wikipedia, “is a tear-drop shaped island in the Philippine Sea situated 800 kilometers southeast of Manila in the province of Surigao del Norte.”. Ako pag na-mention ang Siargao, ang naiisip ko white, sandy beaches and crystal clears waters na patok mag-surfing!

So yun na nga, kung ang trip mo lately ay to “commune with nature” while running and then mag-time out din for a few days after, then maybe the Siargao International Marathon might be the perfect “racecation” for you.

The second edition of PDIC’s benefit run, Takbo 2 Tungo sa Kalusugan, Para sa Kalikasan, is set to happen on May 10, 2015 at the CCP Grounds, Pasay City. It is part of PDIC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program and aims to raise additional funds to increase the number of beneficiaries for the Community Development Project in Lawaan, Eastern Samar in partnership with Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc.

RACE KIT:

Each of the 2014 Run United Medal Series Finisher’s medal is a unique medal by itself and at the same time is a unique part of a 3-piece united medal from the Run United Series legs. Register and finish the 21km/21km/21km or 21km/32km/42km of legs 1/2/3 respectively and form the united medal which is the 2014 unique Run United/RunRio Trilogy Series United Medal!

Each leg 1 – 21km, leg 2 – 21km and 32km and leg 3 – 21km and 42km finishers will get to receive a 3 inch-radius united medal like this:

If a runner finishes all three legs in the category 21km/ 21km/ 21km or 21km/ 32km/ 42km, he/she will be able to form this united medal.

REMINDERS:

• Registration is on a first-come, first served basis, and may end earlier than the announced deadline. Race slots may run out before March 9, 2014.
• Runners who buy prepaid cards at our stores will receive their singlet upon purchase. Runners must collect the rest of their race kit (race bib and Active Health items) at Race Kit Claiming on the following dates.Singlet and finisher’s shirt size availability will be on first-come, first-served basis.
