Under Armour’s CURRY 4 is all about MORE

Under Armour’s newest basketball shoe from the Stephen Curry line, the Curry 4 has now arrived in the Philippines! With only 200 pairs available in this initial release, the Curry 4 model is now available in the Philippines through the Under Armour Brand Houses and various multi-brand stores.

To know more about Curry 4, read on the official press release below.

More Comfort, More Control, More Traction

The Curry 4 is all about more – Stephen’s insatiable desire to win more, to play more and to achieve more. The shoe was designed from the ground up with one thing in mind – to help Stephen get more, from the first ideation conversations to sketches, to design iterations and beyond.

The Curry 4 offers more control, via continuity; a seamless feel between the foot and the shoe, and that is evident when putting on the footwear. Immediately, the shoe conforms to your foot, with no break in period, offering more comfort than ever before.

Traction is critical to Stephen’s game; the ability to grip the hardwood with no slippage and ensure the quickest, cleanest cuts to offer that extra sliver of space gives Stephen all he needs to unleash the fastest, deadliest release in the league. Concentric circles, inspired by gravitational waves, achieve more traction, beyond any prior Curry footwear iteration.

Additional tech details driving the Curry 4:

  • Knit internal sleeve creates a structural fit around the collar & forefoot for an amplified performance feel
  • Microfiber synthetic quarter panel is bonded to the knit material giving the ideal balance of support with reduced weight
  • Dynamic seam taping merges the knit sleeve & synthetic quarter panel without adding any stitching
  • Speed plate for underfoot structure & performance containment built to handle explosive movements
  • Cross-centric traction pattern is designed to optimize on forefoot-to-heel traction & provide amazing grip on any court
  • Proprietary foam compound for responsiveness underfoot

Stephen has helped redefine what success looks like in professional basketball – being quick and light is the name of the game, and Under Armour has applied that approach to the design and functionality of the Curry 4.

PRESS RELEASE:

Stephen Curry returns to the court this season with a renewed drive, hunger and focus on the future. Fuelled by Stephen’s unwavering will to always take his game to the next level, Under Armour will drive the game of basketball forward with the latest addition to Stephen’s signature footwear collection, the Curry 3.

Constructed with proprietary technologies and designed to drive the league’s back-to-back MVP to new heights, the Curry 3 is the optimal combination of lightweight support, balance, speed and durability. Powered by Under Armour’s newest breakthrough in fabric technology, Threadborne™, Under Armour and Stephen have created a new shoe that breaks the mould of what to expect from basketball footwear, with innovative technology and design.

Tech Specifications:

• Threadborne™ is a new technology created by Under Armour’s innovators after examining a parachute, specifically paracord – a strong piece of material that is at the equipment’s core. Within the weave construction of paracord, Under Armour discovered ultra-durable yarns and rebuilt them into a fabric engineered to withstand the rigors of an 82 game season and support the two-time MVP as he transcends the limits of the game. The Curry 3 Threadborne fabric is comprised of braided thread that wraps around a larger, corded panel, delivering unparalleled lightweight directional strength and infinite support.
• Meta-Wing lines the heel of the Curry 3 to expressly support the subtalor joint – the joint that connects the ankle and heel bones, and is crucial in terrain balance, pivoting and shock absorption. The shoes create a snug fit that is unrivalled in stabilizing the foot, ensuring the most complete and efficient way to cut and move laterally on the basketball court.
• Anafoam is constructed on the medial to deliver body-mapped fit, lightweight structure and support.
• Charged Cushioning™ is a unique foam technology, which absorbs impact and converts it into a responsive burst, making each stride or change of direction explosive.
• Herringbone Traction: The return of Herringbone traction on the sole of the Curry 3 amplifies stability, grip and support on the court.

“Being able to work directly with my team at Under Armour on the Curry 3 has been an incredible experience,” said Curry. “Our team’s knowledge and expertise on the science of building a shoe is unparalleled, and pairing with what works for my body and my game, I know that we have created something really special. Working in collaboration with my UA team from start to finish on inspiration, design and fit will without question drive us to success.”

“Stephen is an exceptional basketball player whose talent is only exceeded by his will to be better every day, on-and-off the court,” said Dave Dombrow, Chief Design Officer. “Our team is inspired by Stephen’s passion for the game and his ingenuity has driven our partnership to create the world’s most technically innovative shoe in the Curry 3, and to keep driving performance footwear forward in-step with the back-to-back MVP.”

The Curry 3 mid style retails for PHP8,995.00 and is now available in all Under Armour Brand Houses, selected retail partners, and on http://www.underarmour.com.ph with the “Dub Nation Heritage” and the “SC Camo” colourways.

Curry 3 was launched at the PBA Draft Combine last October 27, at the Hoops Center Shaw Blvd. and was awarded to the MVP of this season.

Philippines, 30 October2015–Global high-performance sports leader Under Armour, U.S. National Basketball Association (NBA) superstar Stephen Curry and actor Jamie Foxx team up again in a new campaign to launch the highly acclaimed Curry Two shoe from Under Armour. The first basketball shoe to feature a full-length Charged Cushioning midsole unit and a UA SpeedForm seamless upper, the Curry Two was first unveiled by Curry during his tour of Asia on the Under Armour Road Show on September 6 in Shanghai, China, and is now available at retail globally starting 24 October 2015.

The new spot, created by award-winning agency Droga5 and entitled “Flash,” illuminates Curry’s unparalleled skill set, which continues to transform the game of basketball. Foxx provides a narrative that questions, “How long does it take to change the game of basketball?” The emphatic response is, “.4 seconds,” which is the amount of time it takes for Curry to release a shot, the fastest ever measured. Amidst explosions of light, sparks and smoke, Curry unleashes an array of moves in an explosive sequence, as Foxx narrates his journey to the top and his lasting effect on the sport.

“Stephen is a generational talent and through hard work and self-belief he’s doing things on a basketball court that is impacting how the game is played, coached and seen by fans throughout the world,” said Peter Murray, Vice President Global Brand and Sports Marketing, Under Armour. “This new story, featuring Stephen in the new Curry Two, showcases his dynamic skill set which is inspiring a new generation of basketball players to challenge the foundation of the game and lead the new era of basketball.”

The spot features the “Iron Sharpens Iron” Curry Two, the lead colourway of Stephen’s second signature shoe. Inspired by Stephen’s relentless commitment and dedication to make his teammates better through his play and leadership, the “Iron Sharpens Iron” Curry Two features a grey upper with a back layer of yellow that pops through perforated patterning, as well as a midsole with orange to yellow fade that incorporates detailed speckles to represent the forging of metal. Stephen’s motto, “Make My Teammates Better,” serves as the foundation for how Stephen mentally approaches the game of basketball. His strength and fortitude serves as a source of strength for his teammates and the team. Additional colourways of the Curry Two will be released throughout the season.

Created with a full-length Charged Cushioning midsole unit and a UA SpeedForm seamless upper, the Curry Two is engineered for basketball’s next great game changer.

“The first time I put my foot in the Curry Two, I knew having Charged Cushioning through the whole shoe would be a performance difference-maker,” said Curry. “I’ve been wearing the Curry Two all summer in my workouts, and I’m excited that the design and performance of the shoe will not just enhance my game, but it will provide all basketball players with real innovation that works.”

Charged Cushioning® System

The full-length Charged Cushioning unit in the midsole absorbs impact and converts it into a responsive burst to enhance Stephen’s first step and change of direction.

UA SpeedForm® Technology

The UA SpeedForm Technology upper moulds precisely to Stephen’s foot, providing free range of motion and strategic stability so he can stop and go, cut and change speed without restrictions. The perforated engineering in the UA SpeedForm keeps the Curry Two lightweight with durable breathability.

Locked in Stability & Control Technology

The Curry Two’s external heel counter also locks in the foot and eliminates sliding for a secure fit. The rubber outsole with an organic herringbone traction pattern offers supreme underfoot control and multi-directional grip of the court. External shanks in the arch and forefoot provide midfoot and lateral stability. A high abrasion skin on the toe tip increases durability to support Stephen’s quickness and change of pace.

“In the Curry Two, Stephen has freedom of movement, responsive cushioning and strategic stability,” says Dave Dombrow, Vice President of Design, Footwear and Accessories, Under Armour. “What makes Stephen great is that he plays the game like no one we’ve ever seen, and at any moment he’s going to do something on the court we didn’t think possible. We drew from that to build him a shoe that allows him to play untethered and unpredictable, while staying in complete control of his every movement and speed.”

Curry Two Availability

The “Iron Sharpens Iron” Curry Two will retail at Php8,995.00 at the Under Armour Bonifacio High Street, SM Megamall and UP Town centre, and selected multi-branded stores of Tobys, Titan, Olympic Village and Planet Sports. Eight additional colour ways will be released over the rest of the quarter, up till Christmas.
