The best players who emerged from the 50 hopefuls of the 4-month long basketball youth development program known as the Jr. NBA, were formally presented by Alaska to select members of both traditional and digital media last month via an event which also served as their send-off party as they go to US for their NBA Experience trip.
The 10 members of the Jr. NBA All-Star Philippine Team had the time of their lives watching an NBA game between the LA Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies, experienced how it is to shoot hoops at the Staples Center- where NBA games are being played, met NBA idols and even had a friendly game versus the Maranatha High School Minutemen with the help of coach Jojo Lastimosa and coach Raymond Mercader.
But what makes this visit all the more worthwhile was when Kobe Bryant presented his team’s donation of US$150,000 to these talented kids for typhoon Yolanda relief efforts of the Philippine National Red Cross.
Alaska’s Jr. NBA camp is one of the best youth development camps in the country. These lucky Jr. NBA boys may very well be the future popular players in collegiate basketball and not very far out the PBA.
Jr. NBA presented by Alaska is the NBA’s youth development program that promotes basketball participation and an active lifestyle among children. For all the latest updates, visit http://www.jrnba.com.ph/ or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/jrnbaphilippines.
