Under Armour Holds Women’s Day Celeb in the Philippines

Last March 12, Under Armour Philippines held an intimate activity-packed day for women influencers, bloggers, fitness enthusiasts and brand ambassadors in celebration of International Women’s Day. The event, held at the Shangri-la Edsa Plaza Hotel’s Chi Spa, engaged the participants to get armoured to a full day of fitness and wellness.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Under Armour PH engages women to fitness and wellness as part of the celebration of the International Women’s Month. Jam-packed workout activities were held last Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the EDSA Shangri-La Chi Spa. Notable women influencers, media personalities, trainers and UA athletes and ambassadors graced the said event.

EDSA Shangri-La as our official venue with the Chi Spa made our Women of Will experience first hand the “voyage to Istanbul” a Luxury Hammam Spa, with their guest Turkish masseuse, which is exclusively offered only this March 16 to 19.

Sports and fitness experts, Olympians and national coach and new Under Armour PH ambassadors, Jim Saret and Toni Saret had their fitness talk, sharing more about their fitness events and inviting all to come and take part. Gretchen Ho shared amazing practical tips on how to get fit within a busy schedule, and we are privileged to have the actress turned into fitness trainer, and also a new Under Armour PH ambassador, Bubbles Paraiso lead our yoga session.

These notable women personalities got the chance to experience the Armour Bra and seamless sports underwear, which made them so impressed with the brand.

Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA Presented by Alaska Regional Selection Camp held in Cebu

The Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA Presented by Alaska continued its search for the best basketball players in the country when it held its second Regional Selection Camp at Don Bosco Technical School in Cebu City last March 5 and 6.

A total of 333 boys and girls from Iloilo, Bacolod, Leyte and Cebu have joined the search for the ten best boy and five best girl basketball players who will become members of the Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA All-Star team. The camp also had a search for the boys and girls coaches who will handle the two teams.

The 2016 All-Star Team will travel overseas for their NBA experience trip together with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia. The 2015 Jr. NBA All-Stars traveled to China to watch the NBA Global Games in Shenzhen featuring the Charlotte Hornets and the L.A. Clippers.

The Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA Presented by Alaska is free and open to boys and girls ages 10 to 14 years old (born 2002 to 2006). It is one of Alaska Milk’s programs that shape, train, challenge and inspire children to achieve their dreams and aspirations in life.

“These holistic programs train children to be confident, disciplined and hardworking because Alaska Milk Corporation aims to prepare them to be winners in life in the future. This year’s program includes new locations such as Batangas, Catanduanes and Cavite to reach more children and coaches and discover the best basketball players across the country,” said Blen Fernando, Marketing Director.

The Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA presented by Alaska is under Alaska Milk’s Nutrition.Action.Champion program. It helps address the issue of overweight and undernourished Filipino children with the promotion of proper nutrition and active lifestyle through sports and outdoor play.

This year’s program started with the tip-off at Don Bosco Technical Institute Makati last Jan. 23. School clinics, that teach the fundamentals of basketball, will run until April with stops in Bukidnon, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, Metro Manila and Puerto Princesa. New locations include Batangas, Catanduanes and Cavite.

Other than Cebu there will also be Regional Selection Camps in Manila on (April 9-10).  The top 50 boys and 24 girls from the Regional Selection Camps will advance to the final selection stage in the National Training Camp in Manila on April 22-24.

At the end of the two-day Regional Selection Camp, eight boys and two girls were selected to represent the Visayas Region. They are:

NBA and WNBA players or legends will attend the National Training Camp to help train and inspire the finalists. The program will culminate with the selection of ten Jr. NBA and five Jr. WNBA All-Stars.

More than 36,000 players and 2,700 coaches have participated in the program since it started in the Philippines in 2007. During the 2015-16 season, the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA program will reach more than 6.5 million youth in 32 countries.

The Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA is the league’s global youth basketball participation program for boys and girls which teaches the fundamental skills as well as the core values of the game at the grassroots level in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents.

Nike LunarEpic Flyknit Introduces the Future of Running

Featuring a revolutionary mid-height collar design and a new tooling system, the lunarepic flyknit offers a virtually vanishing fit, fluid feel and superior softness.

The conception of the LunarEpic Flyknit began over 18 months ago with the contemplation of a global football boot. Taking insight from Nike’s Magista — which allows the foot, ankle and lower leg to work together as a single unit to emphasize natural movement and a feeling of fluidity — the company’s running designers set out to create a shoe that imparted this same sensation, while still serving runner’s key needs: fit, feel and force. 

They began by constructing a lightweight, breathable one-piece Nike Flyknit upper, engineering different densities directly into the knit for precise support: a snug fit at the arch, heel and forefoot. Meanwhile, the aforementioned mid-height collar was added to facilitate lockdown, both physically and sensorially, and Nike Flywire cables were knitted in for additional strength and a close, dynamic fit.

Moving to the midsole, the designers employed a new dual-injection technology. Using heat, instead of glue, they fused two foams into one piece that still features traditional Lunarlon construction, with an IU foam carrier and soft IP core. Laser siping on the side of the midsole facilitates cushioning and targeted flexibility. 

Next, a rubber-free outsole with laser-siped geometric pistons inspired by pressure maps of the foot was added. Constructed of Lunarlon foam, each piston moves individually, enabling pointed compression that results in an exceptional ride. Maximizing both cushioning and traction, it provides unrivaled heel-to-toe transitions and propelling energy return.

When combined, these few potent components form an unprecedented shoe with a virtually vanishing fit that adapts to the body in motion for a fluid feel and superior softness. Incredibly versatile, it is ideal for runners tackling a distance workout, progression run or recovery run.
